I got a text from this number the other day. Said it was from ANZ and they would ring in a few minutes to confirm account details. I ignored the call when it came 30 secs later. Isn't this what we are warned against? I read the preceding posts and decided it was a scam because (1) they said they were from ANZ rather than using a more formal title like ANZ Bank Limited or similar and (2) the text didn't address me by name. Then a couple days later i got a genuine letter from ANZ wanting me to confirm my account details. So it's not a scam. But perhaps the bank could tweet their texts to save the confusion and avoid doubt in the recipients.

It is ANZ as i had an ATM dispute where the money was taken back into the machine, this was the number they were calling me from as they are working from home due to covid & i think they gateway outbound calls via this number..Hope this all helps.

Scammers may be spoofing this number based on some comments. However, it was ANZ for me. They knew all my details and knew my transactions, and didn't ask for any info from me. They were calling to confirm a suspicious transaction, that was indeed not me. She cancelled my card and reissued it immediately and would mail the physical card. The new card number appeared on my online banking within 10 minutes - only they could do that. So don't discount this number completely.

Some guy left a vm telling me to stop texting him (I hadn't) and left his mobile if I was not a spammer. I think it's a trick to get me to call them.

Received a text message saying that ANZ will call shortly to confirm my bank details. My phone rang one ring from (03) 9955 3000. Second text message shortly after saying sorry they missed me - asking for me to call a 1800 number and to quote a given code as soon as possible, so indicates a scam to me.

I hung up and added it to my spam list. If it was genuinely ANZ they would ring back and leave a number which could easily be cross referenced with the contact numbers they use on their official website.

I’ve been trying to cancel my merchant account with ANZ for 4 months. They choose a Saturday morning to call the work number (we’re open M-F) to discuss. They left a message asking me to call back. Ridiculous. But it’s definitely ANZ.

An Australian accented woman called Judith said she was from ANZ and could I give my full name. I said no, give me yours. She said no. I asked what it was about and she said a long running issue with RACV. I said I’ve never dealt with RACV. She said thank you and hung up. Most likely scammer, but possibly the incompetence of ANZ as they are so hopeless anyway!

when I answered the phone it went immediately to being placed on hold with music playing. I waited for 20 seconds and hung up thinking it was a scam.
