Received message form this number: From ANZ: We've noticed unusual activity on your card ending (last four digits) and for your security we've temporarily blocked your card. Please confirm whether you authorised this transaction, which we've approved: $xxx to (Company)on 18/12. Reply 1 if YES or 2 if NO. Action I took: The details reflected a transaction I had just made online however I contacted ANZ on their 132273 number and spoke to a team member. YES this was legitimate - the mobile number shown is part of their response team. Hope this helps, but as always, contact your provider first to confirm.

Caller: ANZ PLEASE call ANZ if you get a text about unusual activity from this number!! I almost ignored it and I'm so glad I didn't because it was legit and it was literally the most stressful day of my life trying to find out how my card info got compromised! Not everything is a scam people, always call your bank to double check!

Received an SMS from ANZ that included the last 4 digits of my credit card number. Said there was unusual activity, and I should reply 1 if I authorised the charge, or 2 if I didn't. I called ANZ using the number on the back of my credit card and they confirmed this was a real SMS, and there was an overseas suspicious transaction. They told me I should reply 2 to the SMS, and the fraud team will contact me for further action (e.g. reissuing my card)

This is a genuine number. I received an SMS from the ANZ about the unusual use of my credit card and being sceptical I ph'd the banks number for credit cards. They had all the info relating to my SMS and knew what was going on and they stopped the "odd transactions" before any fraud was done to my account. They cancelled the card and re-issued me with a new one, it was easy to get sorted out. They followed up with an SMS call reference number as well as an email to confirm everything, all within about 1 hour. Well done to the ANZ Bank for having these procedures in place.

Caller: ANZ It's legit, but for your own piece of mind, call the bank directly through the number on their website or through the support function on your banking app.
I called through the app and the guy did ask for confirmation of my (non-password, non-card number, non-account) details, but I called them so I was happy to do so. They cancelled and replaced the card and said fraud prevention might be in touch.

Caller: ANZ Received an SMS from ANZ that included the last 4 digits of my credit card number. Said there was unusual activity (which they had blocked), and I should reply 1 if I had authorised the charge (details provided) , or 2 if I didn't. An operator would then call me back.
I did some research on the mobile number before selecting "2". An operator identifying themselves as from ANZ returned my call in minutes (03) 9955 3000 Ringwood VIC) and explained the unusual activity on my card which had prompted ANZ to hold the payment. At no point did they ask for any of my details. They told me my card had apparently been compromised and a new one would be sent out. I confirmed my contact details which they provided.
I fully believe this number to be an ANZ fraud department number however given that criminals can make any number show up on your screen, always be cautious and give away no personal details.

I called the ANZ and found that this was a text from the fraud team who were suspicious of a transaction that had been made to an overseas company, and they blocked my card. After conversation, they unblocked the card.

Caller: Text from ANZ I was suspicious of a text on this number purportedly from the ANZ, advising of an unauthorised transaction on my credit card and temporary suspension of the account. Turns out that it is LEGITIMATE. I contacted the bank and they confirmed the same details as per the text. The card had to be cancelled and a new one issued.
