Beware this number! Similar to Gordo, 'Mark' rang saying he was from Telstra Tech support. Gave employee ID as TEL372. I rang Telstra and they confirmed that this is scam.

Got a call from (02) 4369 2755 1730 WST from a 'Mark Wilson' claiming to be from Telstra calling from 215 Millar Street Sydney NSW? When asked why hadn't Telstra written to me he claimed it was urgent as Telstra had detected a malware virus corrupting my computer hard-drive and my computer security could be compromised. He was insistent I turn on my PC. I asked for verification on his employee status - of course he provided Employee ID TEL 372 with authority to call customers direct. I was pretty convinced he was probably OK when my wife took over and called him out as a scammer. He amped up the rhetoric and continued to say we were at risk when wife cut him off. This scammer speaks with authority and persuasive story (for me anyway) and a strong Indian accent. BEWARE.

Ask your Fedral member of Parliament to block all calls from India and Pakistan! That should force these governments to invest in digital telephone exchanges so they can trace their own criminals, something which they are not interested in doing at the moment!

elstra have traced this number for me with the following result - although the prefix 02 appears to be an Australian number in NSW this is not the case! Telstra have traced the number back to Pakistan or India! The fraudsters are able to HACK into spare Telstra numbers & then they are appearing on our CALLER ID to be legitimate Australian but they are clearly calls originating from Overseas! The fraudsters want your credit card number to fix your Internet connection but they will simply steal all your money!

Very annoying guy sounded Indian claimed I would have my internet cut off tomorrow for 6 months. It was a noisy call centre. Very annoying. He claimed he was from Telstra. I hung up on him and was not surprised to find the no here.
They also rang several times last year

They are very persistent scamming low life scum preying on the elderly and vulnerable. Claim they are Telstra and need to remove a virus from your computer. Tell em where to go or simply dont answer.

had them claiming to be from "Telstra Technical Support", Indian/Pakistan accent of course. It's just the usual where they try to tell you your computer is infected and ask you to download a program which is basically a legitimate remote admin program, so it doesn't trigger antivirus alerts, but does grant them full access to your computer like any trojan. It goes without saying never download anything that somebody over the phone tells you to, but I guess even with a success rate of ~1% they'll still end up with several victims each day. Whenever they call me I always like to ask them "so if you're a telephone scammer does that make your mother a failure at life?", hey i've gotta get something out of it.

I suspect the number is faked. The origin of the call is overseas. Yes, I have had a call from this number.
As for what LP said below it should be you saying very vulgar, racist things to them, not the other way round. Get them really p*** off, so they cannot make other calls. Yes, I have done that too. He called back 12+ over the next few hours. I just ignored them. Did not get another call for months after that.
