Caller: Avril Williams The caller used my last name, and said she was calling from the Do Not Call Register. She didn't immediately ask for any financial details, just to confirm my first name to prevent international callers from registering. She also didn't deny that I could do this online, she just said that international calls could only be blocked over the phone. It was suspicious because of her accent and the call quality, however she wasn't asking for financial details, yet - so I wasn't sure what she was trying to get out of me.
It was a very convincing scam, because she knew my last name and gave me an Australian address and phone number when I expressed my concerns that THIS was a scam call. When I googled the address, it wasn't associated with any government department. When she gave me the phone number, I saw it listed here as a scam.

Caller: Steven I had a call from Steven claiming to be from the Do Not Call Register and stated that my details needed to be updated for their new system which would block the telemarketers from overseas as well as in Australia. He was quite insistent on needing my middle initial and then asked for the expiry date of my credit card. That's when I hung up.

Caller: Scam National Call Blocking Department "Peter Wilson" from National Call Blocking Department said he is listing me to stop receiving nuisance calls due to my recent complaint (which, coincidentally, I made to Telstra last week).... however, he had my name conpletely wrong & kept asking me how to spell my name. Said I'll call them back as I was busy and he gave me the 1800 875 447 number (but was calling from (03) 9853 3783)... they're obviously scammers trying a less pushy approach >:X
