I received 2 calls in 2 days from a person quoting this number as a call-back. The guy said he was from Energy Australia but he quoted different account numbers each time (made up I guess?). Contact with Energy Aus (on their number!) reveals that they did not call me

Called 'from Energy Australia', gave me a fake account number, said they couldn't get my meter number 'because of limited access', asked me to call them back with the info. SCAM

They asked for my NMI number, I call back to my real energy provider and they told me , there was no call from them... scamers.

I got a message just like described above saying this number.... however when I rang Energy Australia (via their phone number from their website not the one on the sms) it turned out to be legitimate. Not a SCAM

Received SMS, Email and phone call the day after signing up with Energy Australia. They kept asking for information about my gas meter and to provide them with a serial number. they had all my personal details, however the account number was incorrect. I ignored email and SMS and told the person on the phone it was a scam and hung up. What worries me is that staff from Energy Australia Call Centre must be giving customers details to scammers.

Got a text message for electricity meter number. Text had my address and account number per email I got from Energy Australia. I also found this number on https://www.energyaustralia.com.au/home/help-and-support/faqs/certificate-electrical-safety page.

My complaint is slightly different: I got a letter in the snail mail for my address to someone I can't find on facebook, linkedin or in the white pages saying much the same and to call the number mentioned.

gave me a unknowen account number and to call them asap as they had no access to gas meter!! i dont even have gas u idiots haha SCAM

Got sms today from 0427 046 424 (which was also used by a genuine company to confirm/notify/remind a genuine appointment several years ago to my mobile) stating below “IMPORTANT INFO FROM ENERGYAUSTRALIA: Hi (my name), Due to no access to the meter, we've rescheduled a meter reading for 19-03-2020 for an PM appointment between 12PM to 05PM.Please ensure clear access to the meter on this day or to reschedule call 1800 655 783 Quote acc no. (a 10 digit fake account number)”

Never ever had any previous meter readers found a problem accessing meter box that is visible from 6 houses and two streets. Account number wrong. My name was correct.

Saying Electricity could not be connected at an address I have never heard of asking me to call back on 1800 655 783.
Used my correct name which was disturbing.

Called energy Australia - quote unhelpful (overseas call centre....) but you can email the messages through to staysafe @ energyaustralia.com.au

I received an SMS of the same number when I signed up for onebigswitch.com.au. I believe they are doing it as I did not put my details like address etc, in except my phone number. it is definitely a SCAM as I called energyaustralia and they confirmed they did not call or send this message

We got two calls from two separate phone numbers (03) 9422 7792 and (03) 9422 2400 saying they were from Energy Australia and were having trouble getting access to the meter - we were to call back on 1800 655 783 - they even quoted (very quickly so you couldnt understand) the premises address and the persons name in our company that organised this connection over a month ago - Definitely a SCAM

message from this number said that they can't access my meter.it is on 26/1/17. Of course not one will work on public hoilday Scammer for sure

I got a message from 61 427 046 424 asking me to call 1800 655 783 saying:
We ve been unable to access the Electricity meter at your service address. To avoid an estimated meter read on your account, please call us with three business days on 1800 655 783 quoting acc no 6334417277. After reading the above post, I am pretty sure this is a Scam.

received a message on my mobile from origin australia asking to verify my meter number... when im with a different provider

Someone from (03) 9422 7000 called and left a message with a reference number. Called both the (03) 9422 7000 number (which was disconnected) and the 1800 655 783 number. On the 1800 655 783 number got someone who said they were representing Energy Australia and wanted to verify all of my details (we are with a different provider). I gave them nothing and hung up. Definitely dodgy and would agree that this is a scam to either get your details or try to convince you to change providers.

Called for my gas meter number and said they were from Energy Australia. Disconnected my call three times when I tried calling them back. Fourth call they asked for my address and I informed them I do not have a gas meter and advised my suspicion. They were quick to end the call. Dodgy
