I had a pop-up scam appear on my computer screen. I know it is a scam but it can be frightening for the naive as a voice tells you to call the number or it will 'compromise' your computer. If you try and close the window, it pops up again and again. I managed to shut it down using task manager. The pop-up claims to be microsoft security but the extremely poor grammar and nonsense repeating of some words makes it a poor effort to be convincing. Now, for a twist, my Mum got hacked by the 'telstra scammers' last week. I discovered that the same company owns the number that called her, and the number on my pop-up scam. They are nothing if not thorough.
