Well I just called energy Aust and they said it is one of their numbers, so either the calls are legit or bad ppl are misusing their work time.
The scariest one was the lady who got visited at home by someone using this number. Unfortunately I think I accidentally got the guy in trouble, because it was his laughing at saying If you could give me your credit card details that made me uneasy enough to google, and find all this. I feel safer now.

keep getting private numbers which i dont answer...then i got a call from (03) 9422 2400...they let a message just saying "please call us back on 1800 366 611'..they didnt say who they were or give any ref number to refer to when i call back...if its legit at least say who you are..

word for word - regarding your energy account please call us back on 1800 336 611 thank you in australian accent. @Mon 23 april 2.12pm. Your energy company do not call you they will send you something in the mail.

Same voice message as above. I am being called every day - it's been 2 weeks. I've been calling TruEngery but they're being rude about it and don't care.

They sent me a text message claiming to be about an unpaid account from Tru Energy. They quoted my correct Tru Energy account number, but the account isn't unpaid. When I called I just got a recorded message with an Indian accent telling me all operators are busy, etc. It worries me that these scammers clearly have access to personal information.

Received a voice message on the main phone line in my office from an unknown caller ID. The voice message was a robot calling from Energy Australia using my colleagues full name telling us to urgently call 1800 336 611 with no reason why. Highly suspicious and assuming is a scam call.

received a call from (03) 9422 7791. They left a voicemail saying I was changing my account and to contact a 1800 number. I called energy Australia directly via the number on my bill. I didnt change anything, I assume they were trying to get my account information details. avoid.

I don't even have an energy bill (I live with my parents) yet they leave a message telling me that my bill is overdue.

I got a call on my mobile from a Private Number, as is always with Private Numbers I let it go through to voicemail. The voicemail advised that the call was from Energy Australia and was asked to ring 1800 336 611. That number doesn't exist onEnergy Australia's website. They even used Siri to dictate my address. Nice try scammer.

Recently I received a call to my mobile from a Private number with a prerecorded message claiming to be from TRU energy, quoting an address I was not familiar with. I hung up, and moments later a text message with a reference number, and the phone number 1800 336 611. I call TRU energy (using phone number on their website) and they don't recognise the reference number.

TruEnergy credit department. Leaves automatic computer generated calls on voice mail, requesting an "Urgent call from the account holder", and when you call back you get diverted to a call centre in India. WARNING - NEVER CALL 1800 OR 13 NUMBERS LEFT ON YOUR PHONE. GO TO VENDOR'S WEBSITE AND USE THE PUBLISHED NUMBER.

Received a letter on the Energy Australia letterhead - displaying the correct website address, ABN etc. It arrived in a proper Energy Australia envelope. Looked very ligit, no typos. The only giveaway was a few different parts of the letter had slightly different fonts. Our accounts department said we are fully up to date with payment. This is a scam. The 1800 336 611 and 0429 222 444 phone number listed on the letter are not listed on the Energy Australia website, and based on googling 1800 336 611 it is definitely a scam.

Just received a call from someone who left a message saying they were from Energy Australia and to call them back on 1800 336 611. This is a scam. I called Energy Australia and they said that 1800 33 6611 is not one of their numbers and that as they are working remotely they are not allowed to take credit card details over the phone.

I received a robo call from this number using my name saying they were Energy Australia and to call this number. I have an account with Energy Australia. The number is not on their website. I phoned Energy Australia Customer Service and was told it is one of their numbers but there was nothing on my file to indicate the need for a call. I'm not calling the number back.

Just triplecheck before you write these off as a scam. I accidently underpaid a legitimate energy bill and didn't realise I still owed some of it. Due to a family emergency I didn't check mail/email for several days so missed the reminder the energy company sent me. During that time they also followed up with a very similar automated message to call them, but not realising I did owe anything and being cynical about all the scam calls I get, I checked this and other websites and dismissed it a scam call. It wasn't until today I was going back over old paperwork and realised that call had been a real one. So DEFINITELY stay cynical about scam calls, but if the message just may be real always doublecheck directly with your real provider.

Twice today (14/2/19) received automated voice calls on our message bank with 'an important message from Energy Australia'. The message sounded like a scam call but I did try calling the number they left - 1800 33 66 11 and my call was answered by auto-voice and a request made in a different voice (also auto) to leave my account number. I then hung up.
