I got a call from V R Magazine stating that i approve an add in their magazine so i played along. I requested a copy of the magazine which arrived, i must say it looks good. The invoice attached had an ABN number and ACN number that when i looked up they were registered. WARNING these scammers are getting better just refuse to pay them and just waste their time

Received a call yesterday from X claiming to offer sponsorship advertising in the AiPol Journal. I was busy so arranged for a call back today, which he then followed up with another one to check. Pleasant, official and legit sounding enough, like in a rush but not too pushy. Long story short it sounded like a positive win/win deal with so I expressed interest in the offer. He sent me an email requesting I reply with a brief message saying "I agree."

Same person all the way through, but each of the 3 phone calls was made from a different mobile phone number. That usual? Self protection kicked in so before sending a reply email I decided to go to my local police station where the constables knew nothing about the alleged biannual publication so, on consultation with the sergeant, said Victoria Police gets a monthly mag published by Emergency Media and gave me a number to call tomorrow for further clarification. So much for advertising in a publication with preferential access to police and related services in my local municipality.

Not much you can do. I have reported them to the WAPOL fraud squad. They are aware of these scammers, as are the QLD police where most of these scams are based.
I have had a few recent 'contacts' with these oxygen thieves. One today from the same mobile number 0423 134 629. She said "Hello I'm Kylie from Volunteer Rescue Magazine…" No sooner she said that I was saying "bye, bye" and hanging up. These people are playing a numbers game, they call thousands of people and soon enough someone falls for their lies or threats of legal action. Ignore them, tell them to go f*ck themselves, play games with them i.e., sh*t stir (I've done all three). They are 'white collar cowards' stealing from the safety of telephone canvassing under false businesses, false addresses and false names. One day they may slip up and find themselves wishing they never got out of bed that morning :)

I have an AiPol journal in front of me right now and a Qld Police Commissioned Union diary and they are legit. Maybe there's some scumbags out there pretending to be Emergency Media. The REAL Emergency Media is legit and they do a great job. And no I don't work for them, I have been advertising with them. I also have friends who are police officers in Qld and some of them are members of the AiPol and they have recently received their journals with my ad in them.

Watch out for Searchlight Media P/L and their magazine which is the National Emergency Bulletin. I've already reported them to Scamwatch.

Volunteer Rescue magazine are currently asking us for almost $500. We shall ignore them. And Australians Defending Australia also. This lot had a heap of ads from businesses which had not authorised them.

They say they are from a variety of magazines but don't trust any of them. They even sent ads that didn't even belong to our business - they take info and images from websites that aren't ours. Go to the Police Website and there is a link to Scamwatch. Get as much information as possible to them and they will follow up on it.

Recently I had a call from an organization called AiPol. After sweet talk and how it would benefit my new business I agreed, after some debate, to pay advertising of $290. (First amount asked for was $499.-) - in their magazine. Two days later another guy from the same organization rings me and starts sweet talking about AiPol, - I interupted him and said, "for what it is worth I had a call from Aipol two days ago". He said, "Did you help us out?" I replied "yes". Without comment, he immediately hung up on me. I thought - this mob are sus, - so sus!!
Three days later I had a call from a woman claiming to represent neighbourhood watch and would I listen to a tape about neighbourhood watch. I did listen to the tape, all the time thinking - "this sounds so dodgy" I said," no thanks I will not be making any contributions".
A week later I received from AiPol a" Confirmation of Pledge" statement highlighting the preferred method of payment, - direct transfer, ANZ Bank------. Interestingly the payment amount was now $324.50.
Last Friday I rang them, Emergency Media P/L and got an answering machine. I identified myself (reference no.) and said that I would not be paying and that I was terminating the agreement. Thought they may ring back to ask - why? I have not received any calls back yet. - No doubt, they will keep sending the "Confirmation of Pledge" statement.- I wonder for many months!

So is Ai pol part of this scam. I went to the police and they said they have never heard of them and it's nothing to do with the police.

I unfortunately was scammed by these people, I paid for an ad in the "Safety Awareness in the Community" journal paid $324.50 for an ad I knew that I hadn't agreed to. Next thing I received a call stating I had agreed to advertise in the "Occupational Health & Safety" Journal, same amount if I paid on the day. Just got off the phone to "Pam" who has been calling for days trying to get hold of me & I told her straight I will not be paying for something I didn't agree to, all they do is send you an email with a copy of your website to try to put doubt in your mind. I won't be scammed again. People beware!!!!

I've been baffled by all of these calls telling me that I had agreed to place ads in Volunteer Magazines.
Stupidly I paid for two, thinking that I had agreed without realizing.
When the calls kept coming, each week a different one saying that I had agreed I realised it was a scam and became furious!
These people need to be held accountable for their actions.

Thank God I read this! Because I have been stressing about the emails and phone calls and wondering why I don't recall approving this! Wondering if anyone has also had contact with a group called Kids Health Journal, 1300 924 271. Similar thing, told me it would go out to the local area but when I received the journal all other advertisers where in Victoria, I am near Sydney. Poor quality and looks really dodgy. And suddenly another one from (02) 4333 5047, offering a discount if I pay today. (Essential Services Guide).
