This time it is the 'Emergency Safety Journal' and 'Lily Jones', who sounds very indignant when you make reference to a scam. She assures me that she called me in November of 2015 blah blah bIah. I provide support to another organisation so this one got my mind going, thinking no, sorry. I got another call earlier today and called her out! Got very upset, caught out!

I also have been close to getting scammed by "volunteer rescue magazine". They first called my business a month ago to get an address, to send an invoice to for advertising that they alleged i had booked months previous. i gave them a postal address and they sent me a terrible magazine with a slapped together ad for my business in it and an invoice for $434.50. when i asked for proof of me accepting the art design, it never came and thats when i knew they were scam artists.

i'm shocked i had no idea this is going on thanks for the heads up. I think I have been scammed too, It is really hard to know what to do, or if you have been scammed. You think these people really do want to help you get started in business so you agree,by the time you have there's a whole list who contact you. If you think it's a scam see police imediately or otherwise there goes your cash.

I don't believe this. I had a call today from a lady swearing that I had agreed to advertising with them. I kept saying I didn't remember and I wouldn't have agreed to $555.00. Oh so glad I looked this up. She kept ringing me saying I had to reply and agree on the phone. I got really annoyed as I was busy and couldn't understand why she wouldn't wait till I got home so I could check it out.

This sort if rubbish makes it so hard to trust anyone when u r in business and often like to advertise. I advertised in police magazine and ambos one as well and have been absolutely bombarded with calls from people who say I advertised in their magazine and need to pay up. Sadly I got caught out yesterday with State wide alert!,,,,, Thankfully after closing my office and giving it some thought I realised I had never advertised with them, and notified my banking group who I think send these things straight to the fraud squad. So ambos and police if I c u in the street asking for donations or at a function when u r in full uniform......happy to donate. But do not ever ring me again to go in your magazines

Today I had a call from a woman asking for my contact details so she could courier a copy of a Statewide Emergency Services magazine to my home. According to her, it contained my advertisement for Celebrancy services. I promptly informed her that I had never advertised with this publication and when I began to probe into the publisher's details, she terminated the call. I have recently advertised with "Soldier On"- (and I do hope they are kosher) so I assume that's where they obtained their information. It does make you cross.

National Emergency Bulletin. I had a lot of calls earlier in the year but knew this one was a dud. I agreed to advertise in the SES Volunteers Journal as I had been a member years ago. Then I got calls from Police Journal, Ambos Journal (did you know that at the peak season Ambos only get 2 hours sleep a fortnight? said the caller). Recently they have taken to trying to get me to pay for an ad I never agreed to. The guy said "have you noticed that you are not getting calls from police, ambos, ses etc any more?" He stopped them! With that I hung up. Today I had a msg from Dion Chapman, again, saying they need my authority to allow a discount. Guess they will keep waiting!!!! BTW I did get my copy of the SES Volunteers Journal and my "ad" was in a pull out section. Wonder how many actually got to the SES members.

Hi Catrina Contact your bank/ Credit union and fill out a transaction enquiry form, Also report them to fair trading, You can do this online, Last but no least visit your local police station with invoices and your bank statements showing amounts that have been debited , Send emails to all the " Companies" demanding A full refund because their "Journals" are non existent and their methods to help themselves to your hard earned cash are deceptive and fraudulent. Don't let them get away with it.

Ascot publishing, Youth and community news pretending to be a non for profit community, we said no but still process the credit card payment. What a scam, beware businesses. I spent 4 hours researching them and even called the mayor of Gold Coast.

I just had a person named Allan saying I agreed to a magazine "industrial news" back in February he commented on a requirement I had mentioned to another company "Airpol" which I didn't realise at the time it wasn't industrial news, then he sent me an email with the add and a invoice, nothing seemed to add up so I started looking in to it and I found this posting (lucky I never paid the bill), I will be looking into all the other companies that have contacted me in the same manner that I have paid money to, this sort of thing started back with me over 12 months ago the all sound legit, I feel sorry for all the good companies out there as I will never publish like that again, I will get back if I find out anything helpful

Had this lady call me twice over the last 2 days requesting payment for an ad we agreed to put in a community safety magazine. I asked her when she had been given approval and said it was prior to xmas. I told her I hadn't and I had no idea what she was talking about and told me she will call back to get the invoice paid. We recently purchased a business and initially thought the previous owner had set us up, but turns out they are dodgy just like Auspol mag - the police institute magazine. The one my sister inlaw who is a police woman has never seen or heard of!
AVOID!

I have been well and truly sucked in by many of these. It started with a call from one magazine, asking for support. I agreed and subsequently received many emails/calls in the same vein as above. I thought this WAS actually work I had agreed to, and have been left with thousands of dollars in invoices. Think I will write them all a very strong letter advising I will be making no further payments.

Im going through the same drama similar to everyone else. A woman rang last week from "Statewide Alert" Journal demanding immediate payment or my account would be forwarded to her collections agency, she quite generously offered a $50 dollar discount!!! I couldn't remember the advertisement or contract she told me I agreed too. I have also had the calls from Uni students asking for copies of the ad, stupidly I thought they were legit not realising they were scamming more names and contact details.

had another call today (about the 8th since December) saying we had agreed to commit to a publication back 6 months ago. unfortunately it sounds like we were scammed before Christmas agreeing to an advertisement for the Australian federal police 'aspol' and also another for the emergency and rescue department. all sounded legit at the time but looking back we were scammed. it dawned on me since Christmas we were called and called continually saying we had agreed on something prior to Christmas but no way not this many. the one we had today was for the childrens safety magazine so I decided to google the company ' Workplace Publications’ and surprise surprise here we are straight to this site. scam scam scam. pass the word around don't be fooled by any of this nonsense. is there anyway these guys can be stopped?? making big money by ripping poor innocent people off??
