I have been sent a proof approval from Police Science magazine. I did approve this months ago, but I have become suspicious. I told them to cancel it before I pay anything.

Same thing, first with Rescue & Emergency Booklet apparently published by Silveroak Publications and constantly harassed by a woman called Trudy Wells 0411 582 837. Unfortunately we fell for this one. Now have received email and phone calls from Roslyn Payne , K and R Marketing and Media 0409 478 484 for a Children's Health and Safety Handbook which is delivered to Businesses, Schools and Hospitals. They won't be getting any money this time.

Been caught. Youth & Community News; Ascot publications (various titles), Fire Flood & Emergency Trust; Community Accident Rescue News; Community Crime Patrol, Neighborhood Support Guide, Statewide Alert; Crime Protection.
The 'advertisement' we were billed for from these publications appear to have been 'lifted' from a legitimate advert in another publication

I got done too. Amalgamated Media demanded payment for my ad in the Occupational Health and Safety Magazine. I paid $434.50. They also tried it on me with an Armed forces publication and a Fire and rescue publication. :( Watch out

Yes I have received many phone calls and every time I have questioned the caller as to who are you and when did you ring they hang up. I also thought they were one of my legitimate community safety house and this is where my confusion come into play and I suspected this to be a scam. So yesterday when they called again I went along with them and have today received an invoice from them and a copy of my ad going into this publication and wow its the same as a website I have they have just photo shopped it. Then now I have received a phone call asking for payment from my credit card which I refused and looked up and wow look a 111 complaints I also will report this to scam watch.

Here is a list of the SCAM (SCUM) publications my business has been solicited by in the last 12 months:
Workplace Hazards & Safety Magazine Children With Different Abilities Fire, Flood and Emergency Magazine Community Crime Review Local Support Network
All follow the same run sheet:
Calling to finalise the advert/listing in the xxx magazine. It was discussed and agreed months ago with marketing. They send an email statement saying "THIS IS NOT AN INVOICE" then seek your approval via an "I AGREE" reply to their email. Talk about setting up a verbal password when someone calls back to arrange payment. They then offer a 10% discount for immediate payment over the phone by credit card.
SCUM suckers.

Just had a phone call from a representative claiming to be from Paramedics association and stating that due to funding cuts, they need local companies donations to support the services of the paramedics. In return you would get an advert in the local paper to promote your business, he went cold when I mentioned we are part of a big national company.Straight away my alarm bells are ringing thinking that this is a scam.....and sure enough, looking at all the other responses to similar events, it looks like there are scammers out there preying on innocent people yet again. Bit of the giveaway was the fact that the guy on the phone called me 'mate' about a hundred times, which if you were from a legitimate source, you would not be as unprofessional as that.

Hi All,
I think this is very obvious! there will always be people out with sinister intentions. If they are not a legitimate firm then i wouldn't bother! I've run a few small ads with one of the more recognized joints - it's only generated a little bit of revenue for me, but i mean, it cost barealy anything anyway. I just won't deal with anyone if it's not media emergency pty ltd i think they are the official ones

We have received 2 phone call, one from Emergency Services and the other from Fire & Rescue this week advising us we have given confirmation for advertising. When asked about what design work they are using they told me their advertising people have "created" something for us. When I explained to her we don't work this way and please remove us from their register she hung up. We contacted Fire & Rescue to report them and also to scam watch We recently got "stitched" by Country Austral for some advertising in the Ambulance Gazette which was a scam within its self. Private number calls.

Beware of scammers make sure you know what you are detailing with. If you buy media advertising make sure you only deal with a company that has a CAB audit circulation. I have work in advertising for many years and still can not believe how business through money at cheap cheap details. If it is to good to be true it usually is.

We received a call from the "Child Safety Review". They insisted that they had spoken to us just a couple of months ago and that we had proofed the advert. Prior to this call we had also got a call from White Pages asking for us to confirm our details. This is a SCAM. The lady on the phone got quite sh*tty when we asked to hear the so called recording of us agreeing to these adverts. She then said that admin would call us and rang off. She called from a mobile number and when we called it went straight to message bank. THE CHILD SAFETY REVIEW. If they call tell them you are onto them and you know that they are SCAMMERS. Do not sign anything that they may send you.

have been inundated with calls from people claiming that we agreed to advertise in their magazine but don't remember receiving a call. Hounded for payment with multiple messages on my mobile and emails. Statewide alert, Police and rescue magazines etc. Have been sent copies of proofs with info lifted straight from our website. Over it and have started being really direct with them when they call us. I received an invoice with our business spelt incorrectly so I thought I would look them up to check on them and came across this page instead. Have the number 1300 088 757 with fax number 1300 808 668. All calls to my mobile are from a blocked number

SCAM! I received a call from Michael at Emergency Services Magazine confirming my proof was ready for publication. I look after all ads for our company, and I know I don't have anything outstanding. When I advised that I haven't approved advertisement in their magazine, he said "don't you remember speaking to marketing in January? almost 3 months ago. I'm lucky to remember last week. But I know which suppliers I speak to and I didn't remember that call because it never happened. He started explaining they distribute their magazine to local libraries, community groups, residents. We sell B2B so the library isn't our thing so I told him I'm not interested and please don't contact me again in the future.
Upon finishing our call, I checked my emails for ES Magazine and found an email where I'd told our staff not to pay an invoice because I received the same scam phone call to approve our proofs. I've now reported them twice to scam watch in the hope it might save someone who receives a call from Emergency Services Magazine $400. Don't agree to the proof!

Yes, I too received an email for "Emergency Safety Journal" and spoke to "Lily Jones" claiming that we agreed back in September regarding an advertisement. As this has happened on numerous occasions with other false publications I asked for a copy of the authorised purchase order or email accepting this arrangement, stating that if I don't receive this then you have published without authority and will not be paid. Yes very indignant and claims she is not a scammer but I am still waiting for the purchase order! Beware and always ask for some written consent given by your company.
