Similar to other reports, supposedly from Auto & General about a fictious incident. Letterhead contained legit ABN/FSA Licence #'s, but that is publicly available info and easily forged into a letterhead. Vehicle details were correct but was for a car we traded 10 years ago! Sent from supposed 'Liability Claims Department' but without any direct person/phone number extension, just this 1800 number. Letter ignored and shredded, although quoting correct current address and personal/rego/vehicle details is concerning.

Claiming to be an insurance company. Called from a Brisbane number also and asked me to give out private information. I refused.

Letter received quoting this number to ring. Be wary - letterhead showed no ABN number, no email or contact person - very vague but also requesting information.

My elderly mother was sent a Letter of Demand from these blood sucking low life parasites, for an accident that was staged. The Rego the car she allegedly hit doesn’t exist, no ABN , no letter head nor person to speak to etc. Beware this a scam of the worst kind!

Customer does not even have last name they did not even provide the damage car details or even registration no proof or pictures, all they have is car registration number and my name, the address they provided is INVALID some RANDOM HOUSE number and a STREET NAME no SUBURB NAME, try to find them online no presence, Active ABN, AFC is INVALID... Truth is my car never been to Queensland, my car is not even damage. Caller: SMS received supposedly from Auto and General insurance

After reading these messages this is definitely a scam. I was involved in a minor accident and the other party is insured with Budget Direct. I notified my insurer who said that I should get a letter from their insurer with quotes for damage so I can make a claim but received this sms two and a half hours after the accident!
Supposedly from Auto and General insurance 1800 104 731
And to email at TPinfo @ autogeneral.com.au
80% scam /spam rating!

I received a text similar to the first post, asking me to call 1800 104 731. Instead I called the 1300 number on the insurance website, and the agent I spoke to said they did also have a 1800 number - but not this one. To my surprise the agent told me they had a claim against me from an event more than a year ago, which had only been reported yesterday. I was indeed accused of a collision on that date, but I strongly suspect a scam because there was zero damage to my vehicle and the other driver never provided their contact details. What they did do was send me a text demanding copies of my ID. Go figure...

Followup by OP - Second letter recieved 1 month later. Same bogus info, but this time the incident/letter has be escalated to the 'Recoveries Dept' and 'signed' with an indecipherable signature but no actual name. letter was post-marked as Prority Mail and delivered by our lovely local postie, all official-like :) I wonder how much money these turkies expend on the admin of thier spam :)

Sent a letter with no company name but only this number, demanding $11000 damages bill for an accident that occurred 18 months ago and has since been fully settled via comprehensive insurance
