1800 023 919 is a genuine Commonwealth Bank number for their card fraud department. Call 132221 if you're not convinced.

If it is legitimate why does it come up on my phone as "Hurtle Gear ", a motorcycle accessories company ?

Came here to check... number is OK

Really DUMB bank
Phones from unidentified number and asks you for confidential info... and then plays you endless warnings (you will be there for hours) ... saying don't talk give scammers info... they must have the IQ of a bag of bird seed!

This is the direct number for CBA's card fraud department. As of July 2024 it shows on my Google Pixel as Hurtle Gear, which is a motorcycle accessories business in Bunbury, WA. I told the agent, Tony, that I was speaking to and he was unaware of the issue, despite it being reported on this page from at least December 2023.

1800 023 919 still shows as Hurtle Gear on my Google Pixel in April 2024, but it's most definitely a genuine CBA phone number - I just called them about some suspicious activity on my card and they were definitely the bank. I think the confusion with the caller ID of Hurtle Gear is because Hurtle Gear (which seems to be a genuine aussie company) seemed to have some issues with CBA back in 2015, so perhaps many of their customers saved the number in their phone as Hurtle Gear, and the pixel phones picked up on that.

I received a message when I logged into my CBA app asking me if I had made a large withdrawal on the 28th of December, 2023. I checked my transactions there was no record of it. That initially made me think someone tried to withdraw but were denied. So, I wanted to call to the number, but when I did the caller ID came up as "Hurlte Gear"!!! So, I Googled it and found their website legitimate. But, to be safer, I Googled the 1800 023 919 and there was no link to CBA other than a few pages like this that came up with the number stating the it is legitimate, but CBA is incapable of knowing their caller ID for this number. I did not call as it was too late for me at that time and I chose the option that it was not me and the message responde that my card was now locked and they wanted me to call. Solution, I had to retrace my staps and as I was drawing out cash for a painting job, I wasn't aware of my withdrawl limit and after taking out $1,000 initially I tried to take out more in a separate transaction and it was denied as I reached my maximum daily withdrawl limit. I had to take all these steps because of the caller ID NOT being CBA. Hope this story helps others. I'd call the 13 2221 number to their fraud department directly if you get a message of suspected fraud. Somebody there didn't pass their communications class at Uni in either knowing how to craft a better explanation message and their IT dept should have a lock on their caller IDs.

They didnt call me but I had to call them because I got locked out of my Commonwealth Bank Netbank account. The phone number appeared in a message on my netbank to contact them. It is a genuine phone number for CBA Digital Fraud Team however I have no idea why I got locked out of my Netbank. It appears they are going way overboard with security suddenly. Very inconvenient and I wouldnt bother trying to ring CBA main number on 132221 as you wait for eternity for them to answer. So peeved at the moment!
