I had a call from this number and a message was left advising me that my Telstra bill was seriously overdue. The threat was disconnection. In my professional life, I have known - and worked with Jane Holmes (the 'voice of Telstra') and it was definitely Jane. I checked and I'm completely up to date with my payments. So yeah, a scam...

Caller: Telstra Sounds legit but I wondered if it really was as I haven’t had an account with Telstra in years…. Hence my Google search & came across this!

Caller: Fake automated Telstra customer service call I missed a call from (02) 8070 2203 and when I called back it is an automated service stating they are from Telstra (it eventually says to call 1300 853 661 which is what brings me to make this comment).
Firstly it says ‘Welcome to Telstra, thanks for calling us back. Please press 1’ (doesn’t say why or for what, so I pressed #). Then says ‘Thanks, please hold while I retrieve your account information. **cue Telstra music** Thank you. I have an important message for ‘your name’ the Telstra telephone account holder. This is not a telemarketing message.
Secondly, it says ‘If you are ‘your name’ press 1, if they’re not available, press 3, or to hear more information about this automated call press 4.’
I believe if you press 2 it mentions something about sending a text message to the number they have on file, but did not press 2.
When you press 3 it says ‘Thanks. I can’t continue unless you’re the account holder, please ask ‘enter name’ or the person responsible for paying the account to contact Telstra on 1300 853 661 (which brings me to this comment). Thank you for your time today, goodbye’.
If you press 4 it says ‘this automated Telstra customer service call is being made because it’s important that we speak with the account holder urgently about an issue which may impact continuation of their service. To ensure the privacy of our customers account we will ask for information to be provided to confirm the account holders identity. Once confirmed the account holder will hear information specific to their account regarding why we have called.’
I did not press 1 as I didn’t want their algorithms to know it was me calling back and end up with more harrassmenr calls, but have blocked both numbers regardless.
This is 110% a scam call, just listening to the menu options gives it away.

Caller: Claims to be telstra Claims to be Telstra, says "an important message for" (insert name) "please press 1" then later says something about unpaid bill and service cut off. Apparently from other comments it is a scam.

Telstra claims it is not their number, but it keeps ringing asking for us to pay the phone bill of some Dave bloke ( who has never had our telephone number......EVER! ) If we keep getting harassed by Telstra, we will definitely cancel our service.
