Spammers!

They keep sending me text messages asking me to call. I'm overseas (I have been for the last six months) and my phone is not capable of calling. I repeatedly told them to email me. Nope, still texting.

This is exactly the same as has happened to me. dont give your details to ANYONE over the phone. I told the Indian accent on the phone that I do not know who he is and I dont have any debts. GOOD ON US for being wary. SCAMMERS!

I also had a text telling me to call KANCHANA on 1300 557 455. They wanted my details but wouldn't tell me who they were! I have told them to write to me if they know my details and inform me of what they want via the post. I have no debt so think it is something dodgy!

they just called me said i have debt which i dont ive been overseas for a few years so thats impossible.
wanted details such as date of birth credit card. who i was where lived. i argued they said theyd send a letter to where i live i told them thats not where i live anymore which i dont. weird

wise up people. even if they are debt collecting you DONT have to pay them. some companys buy deb cheap and then try to reclaim it at full value. you do not have to pay anything to this sort of collector. believe me if u owe centrelink money , u wont have some half assed indan working from some sleezy joint trying to collect it. all these things are scams. dont tell them anything but to get f*cked.

I just got a call from these guys too, and had the same conversation. I eventually gave in and provided the details they wanted (curiosity i guess) and it turns out they were legit. The dealings i had with them werent as bad as above because i knew what they were talking about. I asked the person why they couldnt just tell me what it was before asking my details and they said it was to protect me from calling up someone randomly and saying "hey this is about James' debt with blah blah blah". Still it was pretty frustrating nonetheless. Then again, most laws are!

These are Recoveries Coporation and do debt collection for government agencies like Centrelink. Centrelink sent me a letter to say it was going to debt collector and then these people rang. Did ask all questions as noted above. I refused to give and said you rang you give me the details which they did - all of them so they were legit

claimed to be a debt recovery firm refused to identify themselves or who they represent
asked for date of birth and address.

Had a phone call from them too, saying that I owe Centrelink money (They said they were corporate compliance debt collectors for Centrelink)cause I didn't do my taxes? Was after my name, DOB, and address, then wanted me to ring them back, once I got my notice of assessment details in front of me. I'm pretty sure Centrelink would send me a letter, or ATO would if I owed any taxes. Be aware of this number.

Had a call from these guys asking for me name / DOB / credit card details etc. Hung up immediately

got an sms from them saying call kanchana and quote a ref# after i called they keept asking for my name wich i refused to give becouse they couldnt tell me what it was about

who is this?
