Caller: Amex Australia The call is from AmEx Australia (even though my phone - an iPhone - told me it was a call from the USA). It was not spam and it was just seeking some extra information to complete a credit card application.

This American phone number rings me CONSTANTLY about a credit card application which I did not make. I’ve told them on several occasions they have the wrong number but they keep persisting

Caller: American Express Definitely AMEX. I applied for a card and a day later received a call from this number asking me for personal info. I said no thanks and that I would call them back. When I checked the email I received straight after submitting my application with my reference number this number was listed. I rang and it certainly was AMEX.

Two phone calls from +1 1300 557 743. Didn't answer but a garbled message was left but no voice. Treat with suspicion.

Caller: Amex Have received a second message this week asking me to call to provide further information for my application (no application made). I have also been getting calls from mostly the Baltic states but also France and USA. I was on holidays in the Baltic states last year and used my Telstra mobile number in Australia to make calls on a 10 dollar a day scheme. I won’t being doing that next time as I suspect that is why I am getting all these calls. I never answer or call back and block the call. Unfortunately there seems to be a never ending stream of numbers that are used. Beware of using your mobile overseas even if the deal looks good!

Caller: Letter I received a letter dated 13/09/19 - stating that i applied for an American Express Credit Card and of which i didn't. I rang the no. provided: 1300 557 743 and spoke to a female person with American accent who said that i applied for a card on the 05/09/18. Unbelievable. And to my horror the person asks for my dob, ph.no, etc. and which i replied to her in a not so very nice way.

Caller: American Express I can confirm this is American Express, if they are calling you and you are not an account holder then I would assume they have the wrong number or someone else is trying to get a card in your name.
