The message reads and I would not call them, it would be a scam.
Please call BOQ Financial Crimes Operations urgently on 1300 55 72 72 regarding your Visa Debit Card. A block has been placed on your card.

I actually bank with the BOQ and was suspicious when I got a text asking me to call them on this number. I checked this site which gave me more alarm but on checking with my bank correspondence this is in fact the number to call re fraudulent activity.

My wife received a message claiming to be from BOQ regarding a block on her Visa Debit Card and told her to ring 1300 557 272 or 'go to a branch of BOQ' to resolve the problem. The 1300 number and 'go to a branch of BOQ' certainly makes it look legit, but it is a scam because she does not have a BOQ in her name and does not leave her phone number with retail shops.

I got a sms from a number I didn't recognise, so I checked www.boq.com.au for the official phone number, and this is what is listed. If in doubt, check the official website.

Caller: I called them

I rang this BoQ number to cancel my credit card (CC). All legit, I think. When I finished the call I noticed the name tag was Isuzu Finance, which if getting a call from them would not inspire confidence if they said they were BoQ. The BoQ CC services are actually provided through Citigroup. So just a complicated mess if you ask me.

You have sent a account access card to my address 36 . ME15 6NP England in the name of Brendon Parry who does not live at this address......Nor has in the past 6 years ..... Thank You Please cancel card.
