My manager just had a call from these people claiming to be from Dun & Bradstreet (acting on behalf of the ATO) we deal with D&B anyway, so that part wasn't unusual... when my manager confirmed our address, and they told us it was wrong, alarm bells went off and they started to get quite angry with my manager to which he hung up the phone and didn't give them any more details.
Dun and Bradstreet will make contact via mail... they "won't go through the ATO" to sort out an issue with you. Don't be fooled!!

Just received a text from t61 416 907 428 asking To please call 1300 410 118 immediately to discuss an important matter and it quoted a number for me to quote when I call, Dun & Bradstreet. I immediately thought it was a scam so I google the number and found this page with helpful information. Of course I didn't ring them back I just ignored it. Scammers

I got a text message from 0416 907 428 telling me to call 1300 410 118 to discuss an important matter. I called and it says it is Dun and Bradstreet on a recorded message, sounds legit but when I spoke to the person who answered the call after that they could not give me another number to call to verify that they were actually a part of D&B. I then called D&B via one of their phone numbers on their website and they could not find the 1300 410 118 on their list of department phone numbers. The reference number given in the text message did not seem to line up with their reference number structure. I was advised to wait for a letter in the mail to verify the text. Essentially, no letter = not legit.

they send text messages telling you that you have to call immediately. That way you not only get hassled, you pay for the hassle as well.
