Got a call from a private number telling me my credit card had a security issue. They left this number, which I stupidly called. They had an old phone number, my name and credit card number. They then tried to get personal information out of me. I hung up without giving them any more info, but had to cancel the credit card number they had obtained.

Caller: virgin money I got a voice message from the Virgin Money fraud team. Returned the call to find that they are cancelling my card and sending out a new one. A couple of hours later (after checking this site) got nervous about it. So I called the Virgin Money customer support line, the phone number on their website, and they confirmed that this number was legit. If it's a scam, it's a scam so sophisticated that they've intercepted my outgoing calls. Also i checked and my card is actually blocked. This number was not a scam.

I also had messages and emails to call this number and wasn't too sure. I called a listed Virgin Money number and spoke to a customer service rep and confirmed that the block on my account was legitimate.

Received a call to call this number about a credit card application for Suncorp. Best to call Suncorp and ask to be put through rather than giving them information.

Received text asking to call Virgin Crdit card security on this number. Was put on hold with "all our agents are busy" repeating. Eventually guy got on the line and immediately asked for my credit card number. The connection was really bad and it sounded like an overseas call centre. I'm pretty sure they wouldn't ask for my credit card number before anything else, so I cut off the call. No further communication from Virgin since.

Caller: Suncorp Bank Not Virgin Money but Suncorp Bank wanting to verify my credit card application. I chose not to give the information and instead rang my bank direct for them to transfer me. DO NOT GIVE YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS .... They advised they may need to contact me again. If they do I plan on getting a reference number and calling my own bank direct for them to transfer.
