Received a text from Impact Financial Sercives (IFS) about debt collection on a Telstra Bill. I rang Telstra to confirm I have no monies outstanding. Curiosity got me so rang the number. Offshore operator looked up the reference number then wanted me to confirm details. I refused. i looked up Impact Financial - they have an Australian ABN but the web site that also feels fishy as the numbers go offshore. they list an office in Manila. There are other numbers on this site associated with IFS so it all a scam to me.

Caller: Someone claiming to be from "Impact"

Would not give me a name and just kept asking for me to confirm details. Gave an 18 digit reference number that she seemed to make up on the spot.

Caller: I don't know

I have the same issue. Someone called me and said some outstanding balance about Telstra and then I got a text message with some quote. This is all scam.
