Hi Sharon
Yes I just got the exact same message on my mobile phone. He wanted me to confirm my identity but I was a little put off that they hadn't sent me anything by letter. So I too said I wasn't going to give him any information and hung up. Was the man you spoke to have an English accent?

A debt collection service like dun and Bradstreet can not, and are not permitted at law, to call you more than 3 times in a week (or 10 times in the same month) in any state or territory in Australia.
The government authorities and ombudsmen will help you.
It is a proven, quick and easy stop.

Claiming you have a debt, which you don't, is false and misleading and unconscionable conduct under the Australian Consumer Law Act, see sections 18 and 21, and other laws.
So, it is more than a scam.
And, can be seen as fraud if it acts for an agent who it has notice of its practices too.

At my place of employ, we average a call a fortnight (not from the number listed here) purporting to be from D & B, wanting to update all our company details. Caller is always Asian-accented.
We're a D & B customer - I figure any requests for details would come from the Melbourne office and customer rep we actually deal with.

It is Dun and Bradstreet, and while they are legitimate it's a disgusting line. The automated calls are terrible, and when you work in a firm for clients it's impossible to understand who the robot is asking for. When you try to call back you can't assist them cause you can't identify "yourself"
The fake american accents on the line make me want to puke. Terrible customer service and horrible company.

Do you work for them ashia? They are very rude and invasive and harassing. That is not the way to deal with petty debt in any case. if they are legit they should try harder to be polite, because all but the most fearful and timid hang up on them and they get a low engagement rate. I suspect there is foul play.

They could not supply any information to me yet insisted on me supplying my personal information to them how stupid is that, i am not going to give up my personal information to a total stranger. If you think you have a debt phone the company you owe it too make arrangements from them and not these rude grubs. I don't have a debt with anyone and if i do they can phone me it's only politeness to do so.

I got a phone call from Dun and Bradstreet regarding centerlink debt..After having worked for one on the Gold coast years ago.I would say don't trust them 'they just try to make as much commision as possible and will make the debt more than it is if you can't get payslips showing the dates payed and with centerlink 1 or 2 days employer bank deposit within a newstart 2 week cycle can be a $444 overpayment to a debt collector..They even tried to get me over 3 newstart payment over 6 weeks when i wasn't even working and the best i can get is a statement from employer saying i didn't work during certain dates..So if employer cant get your payslips when your lost them you are up the creek..

I received a phone call and because many people have tried to scam me in the past I asked for an Australian Phone number and a reference number which the caller gave me. I then rang it and it was legitimate. Mine was about a Centrelink Debt that I am paying back and there was no reason for the phone call - the operator even asked me why I was calling and I said I was harassed to do so. He said my account was up to date etc.

Correct number but very rude and unhelpful. They were collecting a supposed unpaid Telstra Bill that had been previously sorted, so I thought. No one from either Telstra or D&B could actually show me the documentation that lead to D&B to come calling. D&B would not show the invoice (privacy between D&B and Telstra) from Telstra and Telstra would not patch me thru to their debt collection area. D&B just said ring Telstra but would not give us who to contact. Information, including contact, was confidential between Telstra & D&B.

Just received a message like the one's listen here. I called Dun and Bradstreet's real number and the lady had no record but then told me about another "Department" that "have reference numbers that start with 4". She couldn't tell me what that department was or in fact what her department was. I don't even know what debt I would have. I'm not on centrelink and all my bills are up to date.
Very suss! If Dun and Bradstreet are legit they really need to work on their professionalism.
