I spoke to Westpac after receiving a voice message from an Aussie sounding woman, supposedly from the Westpac group remediation team, who called me on (02) 9155 7505 and asked me to return the call on 1300 130 866. I called back and she asked me for personal info before she could tell me what the call was regarding, I refused. After speaking to Westpac I was told to block the number as it was more than likely a scam.

It is definitely the Westpac Group remediation team. They work between all 4 of the Westpac group brands. St George, Westpac, Bank of Melbourne, and Bank SA. Ask the person for their employee number when you are on the phone with them and then call another number you trust for the bank. That banker can reach out to the same banker who contacted you. They left a voicemail asking me to call back on 1300 130 866. I googled the number and Google said it was Westpac. When I contacted the number they were very convincing, luckily my son contacted another WBC number and was told that Westpac was not trying to comtact us.
