Caller: NRMA I received a text message about REFUND, and I got suspicious because I do not have any insurance with NRMA. After I checked the phone number is registered officially under NRMA, I called them and found out it was about my SGIC insurances. They said they would send me the details with email and the refund would come in 2-5 days.

I got a text message saying it was from SGIO saying I am due a refund. I have not called them back as I think it’s a scam

Caller: NRMA Insurance refund line The email is genuine. I confirmed both the existence of an outstanding refund and the number to call through the online web chat available in my online NRMA account. Then called the number and spoke to a refunds person, who seemed surprised that anyone would consider the email a scam. Refunds person agreed to send out a cheque.

132 132 is NOT the NRMA phone number. I think you have been duped.

This number is claimed to be NRMA car insurance. We are invited to call the number and give bank details so they can send us a REFUND The email I received appears authentic but as the insurance policy numbers do not match any of our policies, I've picked it as a scam. So beware. This is a cleverly crafted email.
