I missed the called, when I called the number back (soon after) a message said the number is “not in service” ... can only guess it to be a scam caller.

Rung twice. Didn’t know I had a call as phone was on charge. Rung back and said the number was out of service. So it said. Be careful not to fall for any scams. I can only hope or figure it was a scam.

Caller: Telstra Support (so they say)
Same " type "assoc" then when C:/ users prompt appeared in a DOS window to type "eventvwr". Windows Event Viewer loaded and she read out to me my CLSID number which appeared at the bottom of the scrolled data. I suspect everyone has the same number in their set-up. Mine started with 888DC and ended with 7D062." script as Claire
But these people stated they are Telstra support a search of the web found they are mainly Indian scammers pro porting to be from BT, Telstra etc

She explained there had been an online virus in my postcode and I was at risk.
I said this was a strange scam and she said she would prove it was real by taking me to my computer's management page and I could check my Customer Licence Service ID number, which would prove it to me.
She guided me to Windows Run prompt and asked me to type "assoc" then when C:/ users prompt appeared in a DOS window to type "eventvwr". Windows Event Viewer loaded and she read out to me my CLSID number which appeared at the bottom of the scrolled data. I suspect everyone has the same number in their set-up. Mine started with 888DC and ended with 7D062.
By this time, I had searched online through the ACCC Scamwatch and found Windows Event Viewer mentioned in a 2011 post and told the caller it is a scam which would result in my being sold virus protection software or support. She protested I hadn't seen what viruses I had been exposed to yet and I hung up far too politely.
