Suspect Scam... Requesting recipients to to call this number as they have an overdue debt pending further action?? Please contact (08) 8210 4400 ref/no: 000000 ?

I just got a message from this number requesting call back in regards to debt I had. The person I spoke to said that it was from Origin Energy the account was overdue. I explained that I would follow up the account with the actually company myself as I had my suspicions about such an odd call and random number. I proceed to speak with Origin in person regarding this account and it was indeed unfounded. Please be warned that this is very probably a scam. Check with the caller what company it is with and call the company directly! I want to warn anyone who might experience this as well, but in case you might have debt with the company call them directly!

I called back number (08) 8210 4400 spoke to a woman who said company name is mercantile CPA a debt collection company.

Please contact MCPA on (08) 8210 4400 Ref 6***** as you have an overdue debt pending further action.

Looks to be a scam. Had no missed calls, or anything

Suspect scam. Just ignored it.
I do not know who MCPA is. I have no overdue debts. This is not how debt collectors work. Lying scum.

My elderly parents received a letter in the mail - the reason I was suspicious was that it did not have my fathers name in full - and the amount was strange - $41.00 - so I rang 1300 658 783 to speak with someone and it sounded legitimately like Origin call and voice and you could pay the amount - so I hung up and rang the phone number at the top of the page - (08) 8210 4400 - MCPA - commercial consumer credit partners - and it rang and answered and no one said anything so I hung up and rang again and it rang out. So luckily my parents did not pay it.

debt collector

Had received a text from 0458 030 632 to call (08) 8210 4400 (previous comment) which I learnt is a debt collection agency. Fortunately I did call and through that agency I was able to address a matter of which I had previously no knowledge.

Received text from 0418 456 527. Rang and a well spoken lady answered wanting to confirm my name, which I did not. She said there was an outstanding amount due to Origin, which there wasn't. SCAM

Caller: Person claiming to be from MCPA

This is a scam. The male operator with an Australian accent claimed he was a solicitor, knew the base, address and email address.
He advised there was an outstanding bill from Origin Energy and provided a reference number. Origin stared it was not their reference number, no amount was outstanding and that it is a scam and to contact the police.

This reply is clearly part of the scam, no one advertises such a thing in such a way unless they're pushing the scam, consider this comment suspect.

Caller: CPA

Got a message from the ALP asking for memberships. I then later got a text from the same number saying I have a debt with some organisation called CPA (never heard of them). They gave me a reference number which I won’t post for security reasons. My sense is that this is one of those numbers you can rent for a mass spam message. It’s probably recently fallen into the hands of criminals. I have no debts that I know about. Someone would have called, emailed or mailed me if I did. BE CAREFUL. This is suspicious.

I actually called origin for an overdue amount and one origin staff asked me to contact this number for the extra debt collection fine.

I had late january a promo from ASN (Australian Sports nutrition) from this number
then today i had that number contact and say Contact CPA otherwise further action from your dept will be taken,

any idea's?

got a message, from this number (0458 030 632), a while ago about a promo at a parlour I hadn't visited in over a year. now have just received another message from the same number using my last name and telling me to contact cpa, on this number ( (08) 8210 4400), about an over due debt ? is this a scam ?
