this number has called for months now, at least 3-4 times a week. Spoke with them the first time they called trying to lock me in to a new phone contract. Going elsewhere now, sick of the harassment.

I have had over a dozen calls from this number (optus) in the last month. Can't believe how unprofessional they are. When I answer it cuts out.

This is a bad spam number. I don't know why Optus allowing this happening? They bring bad reputation for themselves.Next time definitely not use Optus.

Called my Optus Business account manager who confirmed this is legit Optus Business marketing aimed at end of contract renewals. I've had my Optus service for about 4 months now.
Looks like the number was still in the database from previous owner ending contract. TIO here I come!

They tried me for 2 weeks and I ignored it after checking this site and now they've started up again a few months later. Annoying!

They are NOT hangups !! When you answer, the outbound dialler transfers you to an agent; that SEEMS like a hangup, but if you wait a few seconds an agent is on the line.
If your number is PERSONAL, and you dont want calls, you can register it on the DNC register. That right does NOT extend to some groups in certain situations (e.g. businesses and of course politicians !)

My contract is just about up now with Optus. I've now signed up with another carrier, still getting one call first thing in the morning another in the afternoon for the last week. I did answer at first as I run a business and they hung up? How can they sell a product by hanging up. Anyway good luck to them, keep up the complaints :)

Optus has been calling many of their customers recently saying that they can upgrade their phones before their contract is up. I know of many people who have received these calls, myself included, and it is Optus's way of trying to trick people into uprgrading early before the new iPhone comes out.

I have an iPhone at the end of it's 24 month contract. They have started calling me. I called back after reading these posts. There is a recorded message saying please call optus sales on 133345 etc and then it hangs up. YES ITS OPTUS and you just lost a customer.

Got a call from this no. I didn't answer and I am not, and never have been an Optus customer. I am also 3000miles away from 08 area code.

I've had them calling me for the last couple of days, I'm in the habit of NOT ANSWERING a call if i don't know the number. I suggest people do the same, especially with a prefix of 08. If it's important they'll leave a message, but they never do. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFO. If it is a genuine optus call they already know your details so why would they be asking

to those that think this is optus, do you really think they would be dumb enough to call and hung up on their customers? thats obviously not going to make them money, think about it. This looks to be some other group trying to fleece information from you. here's an idea: if you dont know the number, dont answer. If its important they can leave a voicemail.
