If calls from this number (or any other number) are legitimate, why doesn't the caller identify himself/herself - and leave a message, with a contact number? Why the secrecy? What have they got to hide?

This number just called my house phone & I didn’t answer. Thankfully after reading your comments, I’m glad I didn’t.

Still at it. Got a text message from them in about Nov 2017 saying my phone was going to be disconnected so i called thinking i better sort it out.. No it was just NBN, explained to the guy that not only was i not at home at the time but i'm also hearing impaired and couldnt hear properly, got quite stroppy when i said i was going to hang up and call back via relay service for the hearing impaired when i got home. Got hold of Telstra on my return home and gave them the number, they told me i can safely ignore it for now ( My property is due for switch in April 2018) and hadnt heard from them since, However just checked my phone after leaving it in the car for a bit and lo and behold, a missed call.. best part is i can block on the mobile.. Pity i dont seem to be able to do the same on the landline, which they also call!

Chances are its actually Telstra employing a 3rd party. Plausible deniability, and hard sell. This number has been said to be not connected with Telstra due to responses from Telstra. And others have confirmed they have gone along with the call centre on this number and they are clearly working for Telstra.
I think its likely they are Telstra connected, but not worth dealing with. Our area switched to NBN recently, (for clarity, 18 months after NBN is available at your house your old line will be disconnected). We have only ever been able to get Telstra based services as no other carrier was at our exchange. When we switched to NBN we switched away from Telstra home phone, and when I kept getting Telstra bills I called them so I know I called Telstra. The Indian/SriLankan sounding person told me I had to keep paying Telstra too because they own the lines, its line rental. They are clearly blurring the lines of reality between old system, and new. I told her I switched to NBN, the old system of Telstra monopoly no longer applied to me. Remember Telstra do not own the lines anymore, NBN paid 11 billion to buy them from Telstra, it was part of the 40 billion dollar budget at the start. I queried the person re: no they dont own them anymore. They corrected themselves and said Telstra lease them back from NBN. The purpose of buying the lines was to remove the Telstra monopoly, they are lying. Its not an accident, its designed to sucker people.
What it is IMO, is Telstra are employing confusion to sell their product and using 3rd world call centres to distance themselves from the dishonest tactic employed.
Im confident Telstra needs an ACCC kick up the ass. Dont deal with them anyway.

Caller was Australian, rotten connection, but gathered they were Telstra NBN team needing to install a green modem to enhance our phone call quality, he said they had to do it as they were removing our copper, told him I'm 85 and this sounds like a lot of B S, I called the number back & got a different bloke, he was VERY rude with the same gab, I confirmed that it was a modem they were talking about, then I said what's that got to do with my phone, and I'll probably go with TPG who already are my internet, provider, he became very bad mannered, we had a few strong words----- The End. .

I kept on getting phone calls from this number every day on my home phone when I was at work. I phoned the number and asked them to stop calling but they kept on calling, therefore I had to phone Telstra to ask them to block the number.

Received a couple of calls from this number with no-one there when you answer. Presumably one of the scammers that call multiple numbers at the same time. I am not sure how it works but I try to answer to ensure they get charged for the call to me.

Yep, my husband answered this call & they said they were Telstra NBN and wanted his DOB - he told them to call back after 5 as his wife dealt with this sort of thing & then the 5.03pm call was from 015207973523 (but I wasn't home to answer - & wouldn't have anyway) How does our telecommunication system allow these kinds of scum phone connections?? Do they even pay for the right to have a phone connection like the rest of us have to??

I have had this number blocked for months. Hadn't heard from them for a while but now they have tried to call 4 days in a row. I'm on the DO NOT CALL register. I wish the public servants at DO NOT CALL would put down their newspapers and coffee mugs, read comments on sites like these and be proactive in tracking these bastards down.

I checked with Telstra and they are not affiliated with them. They are a telemarketing service at best, or at worst scammers.

Was very sceptical I asked them to verify they were Telstra they gave me my address and my email. Then offered me a plan I said no thankyou and we ended the call the. To read this is a scam and that they already had my information is amazing. This is why I hate people
