Caller: CHLOE and her Telstra ID: D808938 Firstly to TEKA whom I sent some incorrect info to about the identity of the woman who contacted me, I apologise because from memory only I did think Bigpond had not identified her but then found some notes I had made about the whole episode with Telstra & it was just that they took ages to finally track the woman, Chloe, down and tell me she was a legitimate Telstra employee that for some reason it was in my mind they hadn't identified her...…..THAT IS WHY I HAVE JOINED THE DISCUSSION AGAIN ABOUT THIS TELEPHONE No. to clarify things that happened to me...……..
YES, I really did receive the $400 cheque and I was more surprised (OR I should say SHOCKED) than anyone!!!!
I cashed it ok and money went into my bank ok.
I did panic about giving my info out to the lady who called me and rang Telstra about my Bigpond account and they did eventually verify *CHLOE and her Telstra ID: D808938* but I still actually thought I had done the wrong thing about giving her my info until the $400.00 cheque arrived in the post not long after she said it would!
I still wonder why they ring us and leave no message whatsoever - of course we all treat this sort of call as a nuisance call - anyone would - I certainly did for ages until one day she caught me at home and even then I still thought it was a crank call after I gave her the info she wanted. WHAT IS WRONG WITH TELSTRA SENDING US A REGULAR LETTER ABOUT MONEY OWED TO US????
I am still amazed this was genuinely Telstra and the refund eventuated. Best wishes,Robyn.

After much investigation through Telstra Bigpond found this is actually a LEGITIMATE TELSTRA NUMBER............The biggest surprize was actually receiving a cheque in the mail for the $400.00 they said they would post out to me. Very happy.......ADVISE ANYONE WHO RECEIVES A CALL FROM THIS No. to answer the questions asked!

Caller: a scammer posing as Telstra This is a scam, do not give your details, ignore the call, and ring Telstra yourself to report this fraud. This caller spoofs a local number but it originates from overseas. Remember, Telstra will never call you and request details - protect yourself and learn to call the business back on a known number to avoid being compromised.

Caller: pretending to be telstra tried to get details from me, within 15 seconds of listening i knew it was a scammer just phishing for your details. please don't talk to scammers, don't say anything, just hang up, block the number, and always check the number. in this case reverseaustralia is doing a great service to recognize scammers.

Very wary of numbers I do not know. Have been hacked badly recently, so need identification of caller.

Something about a system error occurring with telstra silent numbers between 30/12/15 and 30/12/16. Who ever it was had a lot of details about the phone account. I am not the holder just an approved person on the acct and they were after the account holder. Asked for their number so I could pass it on to the account holder to ring them. Account holder rang and gave approval for me to be the receiver of what information they needed to discuss. I did receive a call back from a different staff member and told all about the system error and Telstra wanting to look after customers and told we would receive a cheque in the mail in 4 weeks. Not holding my breath!
