The do not call register does not stop the charity companies. They are exempted.

Can also block on Galaxy - click on the number and it opens up with the option to create/update contact. Top right click on More and it will give you the option to auto reject this number.

Said they were from Telstra and I was pretty suspicious. Anyway, she gave me a Telstra ID number and I rang the Telstra contact number from their website (not the one she gave me) and the Telstra rep was able to confirm she was legit.

how on earth does agreeing to call back imply scammer??!!?! sometimes you just need time to think over an offer or are too busy at the time

Krystal, the Australian do not call registry is only applicable for Australian companies. Most of these companies calling are from overseas and they do not have to abide by the do not call register. So being on the dnc register is of little use to stop these calls.

I got a call from (08) 6228 4010 this morning .claimed he was from Telstra [ID# d287471] and after about five minutes of refusing to give him my date of birth etc. he convinced me he was genuine .He knew the amounts of my last three bills ,the last three digits of my account number and even knew i had been into a Telstra shop late yesterday and made a purchase.he even knew what i had purchased! After the call ended i became a little curious so used Reverse Call and ended up here, read the posts and decided to call Telstra who told me it’s a scam!!!

This number had shown up on my call details a few times, but no message was left. Answered a call from them today and they claimed they wanted to make sure I was getting the best value from my Telstra bundle. He then wanted my birth date, and I told him that if he was from Telstra he would have all my information in front of him, and I terminated the call.

Re: (08) 6228 4010. Telstra has confirmed that my call from this number this morning was "telemarketing" but, because the caller claimed to be a "Telstra representative" and then asked me for my personal details this caller 'IMHO' is not to be trusted. Please don't give any details over the phone. I have complained to Telstra and Crime Stoppers.

since telstra was sold this problem has become almost unbearable! why isn't something done about these call centers? neither government has done anything, i guess politicians don't have to suffer this invasion on their privacy!

Thanks Rosie Bunny!
I registered myself onto the Do Not Call Register: https://www.donotcall.gov.au/. Afterwards I gave that 1800 a call. When they heard that I was already on the register, Telstra said that they would get in touch with this telemarketing company to ensure that calls are stopped being made to me right after I'd hung up.
If I had not registered myself onto the Do Not Call Register, they provided the following crappier options: - Asked what type of phone I was using to see if there was a way to block numbers from my specific device - Change my number free of charge (are you kidding me) - Provide the number to them and, after they confirmed that it was a number from a telemarketing company, wait 3 days before the calls might stop
