I've got an iPhone and have been receiving calls from this number too. I'm with Telstra, but I haven't bothered answering my phone - especially not after I looked up the number here!
If you have an iPhone, tap on the missed call, then go to the 'Details' option in the top right corner. Then click on the information icon (that little 'i' in the circle). At the bottom of the screen, tap, "Block this Caller".
Hope this helps some of you!

I received I call after ignoring many. The man stated he was from telstra & that he had been contracted by them to ensure I was on the best bill & paying the cheapest possible. He had all my details & knew I was going over my bill each month. Has offered me a iPad mini & will change my billing to include the extra data with the new iPad at no extra cost just for being a loyal telstra customer for over 7 years (this is also true). He said he would post out the paperwork. I rang Telstra to confirm if this was the case after I got off the phone & they said yes they use telemarketers for bundles etc & that it wasn't a prank call. Telstra girl Melissa then emailed me through her details so there will be records of this on my file if anything goes astray!

Phone number is registered to the 'TSA Telco Marketing Group' calling on behalf of Telstra. If you call the number and listen to the recorded message it gives you the option to opt out of their marketing programs. It takes up to 30 days for that to happen. You can opt out of phone calls, emails, snail mail, door to door, any or all. I chose all... I'm a Telstra customer, but if I want a service, I'll contact them!

Touch wood, no more calls, problem solved. My phone services are all with Telstra. Lodged an online complaint a week ago, received an email response, called Telstra Unwelcome Calls 1800 805 996, routed thru several points/CSOs; I was told to wait 1-2 days for mobiles and up to 2 weeks for the fixed line to be rid of the source of harassment. Yes, indeed the number is a Telstra call centre. Best of luck. If you're with another carrier you'll need to go through their complaints protocol - be nice to them, the complaint is the number not your carrier. Regards A.

I have been getting at least two calls per day since arriving home....... Even got one as i walked in the door from Perth after an hour or so of driving home, last thing i wanted to do was have a chat to them!........Told them i was not talking today......The person wanted to know what i USE my internet for {isn't it bloody obvious} but as iam NOT with Telstra for internet, what does it have to do with him, i sure will NEVER have telstra for my carrier, just the landline!

I also have been getting calls from these people everyday and drove me mad. I found a phone called a Telstra Guardian 301 that filters out the calls and thats the last I have heard from them. I can see that they are still trying in the log but the phone stops them from getting through. best $70 I ever spent

Third party telemarketing doing job for Telstra - trying to get you to buy or change a plan with Telstra.
They automatically call numbers using a computer. If you don't answer, it will keep calling automatically. If you do answer, but they have no-one available to talk to you, it will keep calling. If you do answer, and they have someone available to talk to you, they will then launch into their sales pitch. The people you speak to are not responsible for the way it works. They are trying to earn a living. Ask them (nicely) to remove your number from their records - or ring Telstra and ask them to stop contacting you.

I've been getting calls from this number but as I don't answer unknown calls haven't needed to speak to anyone. However, today I rang Telstra 1800 805 996) and had this number blocked. They did confirm that it is a Telstra 3rd party telemarketing company.

TSA Telco Group Number. They are contract by Telstra to handle retention based calls. They have access to special offers, discounts and plans that are not available through Telstra Stores or by normally calling Telstra. They are the people who handle calls about cancellation of contracts and services from Telstra. Very friendly and helpful can only call Telstra customers to double check they are happy with plans and services received from Telstra and to assist you where possible if not. They are mainly an inbound calls group but also handle some outbound calls.

Australia has a 'do not call' registry that you can sign up to which will stop most of these types of calls. donotcall.gov.au
