Caller type: Scam call

(07) 5672 3916 called me at about 11am. Initially a female robot voice calling itself 'Nicole From Telstra' said my internet would be disconnected because the NBN is now available in my area. For those people that don't know, older landlines are going to be disconnected and people need to move to the NBN. However no one is disconnecting anyone, the company notifies you about it and you have plenty of time to move over to the NBN. Anyway, Nicole said to press 1 to connect to a technician so I did. Then I was connected to a woman with an Indian accent (surprise surprise!) and she asked if she could help. I said she had called me. Then she said oh yes your internet is going to be disconnected. Then something unusual happened. She changed the story completely and went into the usual story about how there were some bad men illegally using my internet to do bad things and this needed to stop and she asked if I was aware of it. By this time I had wasted enough time and got the gist of what they are trying to do (so I could report it here heh!) so I told the woman her story didn't match what the robot voice told me initially and in any case I'm not with Telstra. Then she hung up LOL! Obviously a scam ;-)
Just be aware that for most people, no one calls you from an area code (the 07) that is not in your state/country. If you see an unknown area code then you can be almost certain it's a scammer.
