People you place in your contacts list will get through as usual but anyone with a private / withheld number or a number that is not in your contacts list will hear this message; CALLS TO THIS NUMBER ARE BEING MONITORED BY TELSRA GUARDIAN; PLEASE STATE YOUR NAME AND THEN PRESS # AND WE WILL CONNECT YOUR CALL. You will then have the option of either accepting or rejecting the call.

I called back number (07) 5657 0893 reached voice mail of a company called charity fund raiser.

Prehaps some of you should read the home page of the Do Not Call register, where it says, in big letters, Charities, Market Research & Political parties are exempt.

i keep receiving calls from these bozos too. they can call as much as they like. i don't answer calls from numbers i don't recognise.

This number called our landline (we did not answer) and then within seconds called a mobile which I DID answer, but there was no sound on their end. I called back and the receptionist said that it was because it was an automated dial but without a "consultant" to answer us. I said how come you call when we are on the DNC register. "Charities are not subject to that" but our numbers could be taken off their internal DNC list.

Fingers crossed for the future.

I can vouch for these phones. Got one several months ago, set it up and now absolutely zero nuisance calls. Not one. The only ones who get through are those on your contact list and those who really wish to identify themselves. Brilliant.

Further you don't have to be a Telstra customer. So long as your service provider uses the Telstra line (and most do) AND you have Caller ID included in your service it works fine.

Occasionally I'll check the phone call register and I'll often see numbers (many of which appear on this site) where they've simply hung up once they get the message referred to above by Mark.

These companies ring up for a week or so then hang up on you when you answer.
What you dont understand is that it is a computer ringing to see what time of the day you answer your phone.

So they ring and ring until you answer, then the computer will hang up on you.
Lets say for example it is 5pm in the afternoon and you just got a hang up call.

I can bet that a few days later you get a real person call you at 5pm.

This cuts down on their operators wasting time on calls that dont answer.
So what they do is profile you for when you are home and when you answer your phone. all at our expense.

Pitty about my elderly Mother that keeps getting up out of bed and being woken by these scum and not to mention the upsetting stress it causes as well.

All of this for the scum bags that the salvos support. The drunks in he city parklands that commit crimes on the elderly and steal and dont want to work.

I used to give to charity but no more.

I suggest we all BOYCOTT THE SALVATION ARMY because all they have done is upset and caused physical pain every time that phone rings for my Mum who has worked her whole life and paid her taxes and just wants to be left alone., and im sure others are in the same boat.

Tell your friends that the SALVOS ARE BULLIES and to BOYCOTT them.

Ps. I had Apple Marketing call recently on (07) 5657 0893 and profiled us during the week on (07) 5657 0894 and as soon as we interrupted their snake oil script, They just Hung up, like a rat salesperson not giving a crap about what you have to say. Only chasing their next slimy commission.

If you have an iPhone, you can put them on block... I get several calls, several times a day from these clowns on my home and mobile.

Tied to call me three times in 4 days before I blocked them

@Misty - charities, marketing and politicians can still call because they lobbied to get that built into the law

These calls are the reason I have an answering machine. Family & friends know to say hello so we will pick up.

Your number calls my wife and I at least 4 times a week.
Never leave a message. If we have to call them, it cost us a STD call.
Are you going to reimburse us?

I called back number (07) 5657 0893 spoke to a woman who said company name is Apple Marketing.

I got a call from them to my private AND "Do not call" registered ph no! Rang them & said I am going to report them.
Got "Rebecca Harris" who rudely stated:
"We are a charity so do not call doesn't apply to us".
So if that's true looks like anyone ringing to scab money is allowed to call!
So much for privacy!!! Why should they be allowed to still call???

Not answering this unknown number because they don't leave a msg and they keep calling once a day every day. About to block them after reading other's comments here.
