Another number 'Jan' from the Australian Taxation Reported uses to bully & harass poor small businesses to chase up payment for reports forced upon them & returned. DO NOT ANSWER CALLS from this number or from two other similar numbers (07) 5503 4350 or (07) 5503 4355. Do not agree to receive ANY correspondence from them. It is useless & you will have signed a deal with the DEVIL. Be warned

I first experienced a call 2 weeks ago from a woman called Bonnie, she did her speal on the whole subscription thing and then asked for my credit card numbers. I declined the sale however, I did invite her to send out some info for me to look over if she liked. 1 week later a woman called Jan telephoned me. Apparently, because I allowed them to send out info regarding there subscription which was what they were giving to me on the phone, I had unbeknown to me subscribed.
I tried to explain I am not interested and did not agree to anything. She would not listen to anything I had to say, so frustrated I hung up on her. Within 30 seconds Jan called me back screaming, "DO NOT HANG UP ON ME". I invited Jan to send me in writing the proposed agreement she insisted I had with them along with the so called recording she swore she had that I verbally agreed too. I informed her I would forward these to my lawyer. Another week later Jan phoned again, immediatley and abruptly informing me I am to pay up today. Quite upset, I tried to reason with her. Jan was intimidating and persistant with her claims as previously. I invited her again to forward the threatened recording and a letter with the proposed agreement I am apparenlty binded to. I then explained I had, had enough of her bullying and was going to contact Adelaide today tonight media crew. I was then informed I was threatening her, Jan then hung up on me promptly. I had seen all the complaints on the internet about her and this scam. Very distressed I phoned my husband, he then telephoned Jan. My husband invited Jan to forward a copy of the rcording and a letter with the proposed agreement, again. Jan then opted to tell him there recordings were only set up the very first day they called me and they were trying to find it. She did not offer anything in writing. Jan decided because my husband was "amical" she was not going to bother me again. YOU PICKED ON THE WRONG PERSON THIS TIME JAN!!!!! I am not leaving it here. I am going to forward this infomation on to the authorities.
I dont know how you sleep at night, you are discusting.

We to are receiving calls from ATR demanding money for useless information, that we agreed to have a look at, as were busy working and wanted to get off the phone. Disgusting creatures extorting money out of small business! Current Affair needs to expose these oxygen thieves.

Lodged complaint with dept fir trade. I dont know how they get away with they pushy sales tactics. Also took me a while to work out on one phone call that they werent the actual tax office. Should be shut down!!!!!

I have received my latest phone call from JAN this morning on my mobile which my assistant gave her because she thought she was from the ATO. I have blocked her calls now from my mobile. Sales lady contacted our business number on our second day of trading in our new business in sept 14. It took my husband most of the phone call to find out that they weren't the ATO and that it wasn't compulsory. We were so busy my husband asked her to send some information so when we where not so busy we could look into it. All that everyone has stated has happened to us too. Jan keeps ringing the business phone asking for my husband who doesn't work in the business and works away and she wouldn't talk to me only my husband. I did talk to her to try to get her to stop ring and stated that I had not signed any documents so I don't have to pay but she said we had our chance with the cooling off period.
I'm happy to ignore her phone calls and I have sent back all bills and letters.
Has anyone been sent any legal requests for the payment ? eg debt collectors

Hi, same as everyone else, received phone call from Jan late Nov 2014 .. as I was so busy with work I agreed for her to send out info just to get her off the phone. I never received package and didn't both about it as I didn't write down who it was as wasn't really interested. Received phone call from Jan and I explained I had not received, she advised that they pay extra for postage to ensure it goes to the correct business. She offered me their web site and reference number for my boss to look at. She then called again on the 05/12, I advised again that we did not receive package and that my boss had looked at web site and was not interested. As far as he is concerned that is what he pays his accountant for. She was not happy and did not listen to what I had to say. She then called again on the 11/12 wanting money. I explained again we were not interested. She just went on and on about the package that we didn't receive and how much they pay extra .. I said well you show me where it was signed for, but she just keep saying we pay extra .. I told her we are not interested and will not be paying this invoice. She said she will look into the postage packaged. I was shocked at the bully tactic she used .. and after reading everyone else comments, im waiting for her to call back again and I will give her what for .... arrrhhhh this is so wrong .. wish we knew the owner or this business and they know what is going on .. if it is Jan then this business needs to be shut down!!

I got a call she extremely busy, and agreed to look at their stuff, but had to travel to various places including heading to Sydney for a conference. She (I guess it's the same Jan) has now called to say I am over my 16 days cooling period and have to pay pay the $530 for the 12 months. I never signed anything, never said I actually wanted it, so what am I cooling off from? I'm contacting OFT. She said all her salespeople are very careful about doing everything right or they get sacked, and that what the salesperson arranged with me over the phone is binding, but without any proof of this.

good advice. if they can't put their details in writing and the ABN is registered to a different company.....AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE!!

Ive had the same experience, let this be a lesson to all, don't entertain any body on the phone get them to send you there contact details, mobile, number company name, abn, acn and address, then check them out, if they are not willing then stay away. hang up.

The first to ei got so upset on the phone from the shock of having to pay for something I didn't want, she just let me wail and kept saying I had to pay,my dad then informed me about the scam and how they operate and suggested a few choice word for them,
Two calls ive had now demanding the payment I just laugh and say ive spoken to my solicitor I know I know owe anything, jan replies get your solicitor to ring me and I laugh and hang up,

Just spoke to office of fair trading, if you cannot come to a satisfactory resolution, write to the OFT and they will investigate the issue.
I think we should all send the OFT an email of complaint about this blatant rort to force some action against Australian Taxation Reporter.A quick ASIC search seems to say they are not registered so definately dont give them any money. I will also be catching up with a mate in the police force and asking him if he can maybe get the fraud squad to take a look at their dealings, also anyone got any mainstream media contacts as they love this stuff.

I am dealing with Jan at present. Same situation as everyone else, she calls while you are busy at work and she convinces you to give your address so she can send you the info. I sent mine back but of course it was passed their so called "cooling off period". She has been hassling me for weeks. She is rude & intimidating. My husband dealt with her today and he told her we are not paying her a cent. A colleague of hers has now sent a recording of me giving our address to her. She doesn't seem to have the recording where I have told her several times I do not want her services as I have a very good accountant.
This company really needs to be stopped. I can see how they work and there would be a lot of vulnerable people who would pay her to get her off their back.
I am digging my heals in and not paying. I have never dealt with someone as manipulating as her. I have put a complaint in with the Office of Fair Trading. I wish A Current Affair would get onto them too. I would love to run into this "Jan" in person and see how intimidating she is then. There has got to be some law against a company using this method of trapping unwilling people.

How horrible that there are people out there making life hard for us small business's. My story is very similar to Samuel except it was 2012 Christmas. I received a call from Jan and she caught me at a vulnerable time. I agreed reluctantly to have the "crucial information" posted out to me and received it and put it in the "things to read pile". Of course with the crazyness that is the Christmas lead up it got left there. When I returned to the desk mid Jan 2013 Jan called and told me that I have now been sent through to the credit department because I needed to pay $549. I was horrified and I can't believe I agreed to this on the phone. I have asked for my voice recording to be sent but so far I have not received it despite Jan calling me and leaving a message that it had been sent. I have stopped answering her calls as I do not want to be harassed anymore. I sent back the "important information" yesterday with a print out of this page. I wanted ATR to understand that I am not alone so thanks everyone for sharing your story.

I had the same call from the same woman and apparently letting someone send you useless brochures means that you have to pay them for a subscription service you didn't know you signed up for.

Jan is a very busy lady!

She hit up my small business. Same as the above.

Got very angry when I told her i was yet to pay.

Wanted Credit card details over the phone.

I've paid the $500 or so just to get her off my back.

She should be ashamed.

I too had a very threatening phone call from "Jan" today. She told me that I owed money for something I don't even recall her phoning me about in the first place. I had recieved her package only 17 days ago and my PA had opened it and placed it in a folder for our book keeper to look at thinking it was from the ATO about BAS etc - since recieving it coincidered with the EOFY. So anyway Jan was extremely threatening and really upset me, she told me she had a verbal agreement and a phone recording of this agreement. Anyway I'm waiting for her to get back to me with this so called recording. I'm normally a pretty tough cookie but Jan was so intimidating she certainly ruffled my feathers. Hopefully this will be the end of it... but from reading everyone elses posts it looks like I'll have to take it further. Just what a busy business owner needs!! Totally unhappy with Jan right now!!

Oh no, i just recently got caught by this scam! I with Kerrie, they messed with the wrong person here! Cant wait for her next call now i know its a common thing!
