Caller: Missed the call Hi All
Everyone thinks this is a scam. It may be a nuisance, and unsolicited, but IT ISN'T A SCAM. Have a look at the website for the RFBAQ - this is what they say.....
That is our contact centre calling around the State seeking the support of the community. We sell raffle tickets and collect donations to help our volunteers. When we call, you can always be assured that our friendly staff will give you their name and let you know how they’re calling for and why. Want some more information from them? Just ask! They will provide you with all necessary information to ensure your full confidence in any transaction.
Don’t like doing things over the phone? No problem. You can purchase tickets in our Art Unions right here on our website, and of course you can make a tax-deductible donation if you prefer.
RFBAQ is a Registered Charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
Unfortunately, I missed their call - so as is my normal practice, I googled "Who called me from .......". I've looked at their website, and it's a really worthwile bunch of people doing really good work. I won't donate over the phone - and I never give credit card details over the phone. but I do live in a semi-rural suburb of Brisbane, and would like these guys to be around if my home is threatened by bushfire. So I'm going to buy tickets in their lotteries (using PayPal).
We're all sick of people asking for donations - and we're all sick of being intruded on at home - but some issues are important enough that these intrusions are justifiable. Just say NO if you want to. In my case, if I like their cause, I say Sorry - NOT OVER THE PHONE, but I'll get onto your website.
Just my two cents worth John

Caller: RFBAQ Gympie Bob. What you are saying is a lie. The RFS provide trucks, equipment, protective clothing & many other levels of support. Selling raffle tickets like any other telemarketer, is not good for the reputation of Rural Fire Brigades. People will be much more Willing to give to their local fire brigades without repeatedly being called.
