Caller: Scammer First call from (07) 5480 1369 was silent, then an hour or so later a second call came in. It was silent for 10 seconds or so, then a female Australian identified herself as from "Royal Fire Brigade Association of Queensland". I knew that this was different from the Rural organization, so I hung up.

Yes I received a call from the RfD service. Now all phone companies should have this number as a registered number to show it is the royal flying doctors . It's not that hard.

Bob, they aren't charity callers though. These callers do call "on behalf of RFBAQ", (but without approval to use the name) but skim off 90% of what you give as fees and pass on the 10% to RFBAQ, most times. They are just crooks trashing the name of the fire brigade.

This number has called multiple times over the course of a few months. Never leaves a message, and the one time I answered they hung up on me. Guessing by the comments here not an honest caller.

Caller: (07) 5480 1369 Hi Everyone. This is a genuine charity doing a really good job. It's not a scam, and that's really easy to verify. Not everyone who calls you is out to get you.
This number is the Rural Fire Brigade, and you can search them on the net. You'll easily find their site, which clearly shows the number (07) 5480 1369. I have chatted to people calling from the Rural Fire Brigade seeking donations. I simply told them I couldn't afford to donate at the moment. Living in a semi-rural area, I sure hope they're still around if there's a bushfire anywhere near my property.
So live and let live. Just politely decline vif you want to, or send them some money. But please don't promote the idea that they're a scam - they aren't.
Cheers John

Caller: Missed the call Hi All
Everyone thinks this is a scam. It may be a nuisance, and unsolicited, but IT ISN'T A SCAM. Have a look at the website for the RFBAQ - this is what they say.....
That is our contact centre calling around the State seeking the support of the community. We sell raffle tickets and collect donations to help our volunteers. When we call, you can always be assured that our friendly staff will give you their name and let you know how they’re calling for and why. Want some more information from them? Just ask! They will provide you with all necessary information to ensure your full confidence in any transaction.
Don’t like doing things over the phone? No problem. You can purchase tickets in our Art Unions right here on our website, and of course you can make a tax-deductible donation if you prefer.
RFBAQ is a Registered Charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
Unfortunately, I missed their call - so as is my normal practice, I googled "Who called me from .......". I've looked at their website, and it's a really worthwile bunch of people doing really good work. I won't donate over the phone - and I never give credit card details over the phone. but I do live in a semi-rural suburb of Brisbane, and would like these guys to be around if my home is threatened by bushfire. So I'm going to buy tickets in their lotteries (using PayPal).
We're all sick of people asking for donations - and we're all sick of being intruded on at home - but some issues are important enough that these intrusions are justifiable. Just say NO if you want to. In my case, if I like their cause, I say Sorry - NOT OVER THE PHONE, but I'll get onto your website.
