This is a debt collection company called Panthera. They don't care that you are not the person they are looking for. They will change the DOB details on their records while on the phone with you to yours to get a match. They get paid a commission on money they collect and don't care. I have reported them to the police.
If they call you don't give out your address or DOB. Otherwise you will end up with someone else's debt

called my husband asking for me, he said "why", wouldn't tell him, saying it was private. Called them back, they say I have an outstanding debt with Comm Bank. I have never had an account with Comm Bank since Dollarmite account at primary school. I tried to tell them they must have the wrong person, but they won't listen. What do I do?
They are really aggressive

SCAM SCAM SCAM.. I called back and gave them my reference number and he asked me if i was 2 different people! I told him that I hadn’t lived at that property for over 10 years but my sister still lived there and she had passed on the message! I also made it clear that I had already googled the number and it came up as a scam. He then asked me what was the number they were calling me on! When I told him that he should know from the reference number I gave him he hung up..

My only advice is do not give out personal details over the phone. I refuse to give these people or anyone I don't know any info. If you do by chance get stuck on one of these calls and they go on about a debt always say 'alleged debt' - never admit to the debt and do not agree to make payments, Also if they tell you the debt is from another company you can tell them you have no debt with them because there is no contract with a wet signature. Also tell them if they were stupid enough to buy an 'alleged' debt off another company that's not your problem then hang up.

Debt collectors: if it’s been >6 years since you’ve had any contact on the debt - or since you acknowledged the debt in writing or in recorded conversations, they no longer have the legal right to chase the debt.

I have one Block Caller listing for Panthera on my phone, and there are over 20 landline/mobile numbers - added over the years - as they try to contact me.

You can report them for unconscionable conduct for this I believe, debt collectors have a strict code they are supposed to operate under.
The code is available at https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/dealing-with-debt-collectors/what-debt-collectors-can-cannot-do and there is a 1800 number 1800 007 007), I recommend reporting them as the more complaints the better as they will be on notice to act within the code.

if you have a debt ring the national debt hotline, google the number, they put the debt on a 3 year no contact register so that you can ignore these pieces of scum. When you get to the end of the 3 years you can renew the 3 year no contact register which then at the end of that 3 years you don't have to worry about the debt ever again as they don't have a legal right to pursue the debt anymore. The debts that these pieces of scum pursue should have never been sold to them in the first place, its a usual tactic that the major banks get rid of loans that they aren't willing to negotiate with the debt holder for a lower payment rate, I'd know as I used to work for the ANZ

I think they are pretty rude, how they got my number is beyond me, also in regards to the person they were looking for, I have no personal relationship with this other person besides I work with them, but here they are calling me and a few other work colleagues, I passed on the message and the ref# to that person and they were gobsmacked into why we got called/contacted instead of them .
Apparently they search your name on google and then anyone who comments or is linked to the person of interest is their target , so they’ll stalk the sh*t outer you till they get a number or contact .

Pascal phoned me, he knew my name and asked me about my old housemate who I haven’t lived with for at least 6 years. This housemate isn’t living in Aus anymore either. He said he found my details on the public domain but I have no idea how he would connect me to my old housemate in any capacity.

Highly strange.

He confirmed my name and then wanted me to give a message to the guy next door. I asked how he got my name and number and he said it was in the public domain. I was not happy as I have a private number and am on the do not call register. He got the name right for the guy next door and his house number. I could not figure out how he got my details until after reading these comments I have an account with the commonwealth bank. This is a breach of privacy on the banks behalf and I am going to put in a complaint with the victorian bureau. I did not tell him if the guy lived next door but agreed to give the residents a text he sent me. I have enough proof to lodge a complaint.

The caller would not give his name, details or reason for calling stating he was not at liberty to say. He rang my number asking for the contact of my husband's colleague thinking I would be dumb enough to give them anything they asked for.
