Claimed to be Visa/Mastercard reporting a suspicious transaction on my card. Pressing 1 gets you put through to a call centre where they have Indian accents. Typical scam.

Caller knew my first name, and said he wanted to confirm a credit card payment for an iPhone. In case he was genuine (about one chance in a billion!), I politely wished him a nice day, and ended the call. 06/08/2024

Wanted to confirm a $128 transaction on my PayPal account. I informed him (man with an Indian accent, calling from a very noisy call centre) that I did not have a PayPal account. He continued going on about whether if I have given information to any friend or relative, I said no. He insisted I had an account and also insisted on confirming the transaction, I patiently repeated that I did not have a PayPal account, he hung up in frustration.

Caller with an Indian accent stated that they were from PayPal and started asking me if I have an Apple or Android as I had "been hacked". They then called back on a second number. Do not answer these calls.

Claimed to be from PayPal to give me instructions on how to cancel a payment that might be fraud. First question was do I have an iphone or android, they said the payment was this morning $7.. didn't question if I had made the payment. I asked what they needed from me and what they would be instructing me to do, he got very frustrated & said to assist me with the cancellation. hung up.

Caller: No idea Silence for 10 seconds then blaring office type background noise and someone said one or two indecipherable words in what sounded like an indian accent then they hung up. Who knows what it was about. Probably a scam.
