This is not a scam. If you do your tax online via the ATOs ETAX portal this is them calling you to confirm details. Alternatively you can log into your ETax account online and message them from there, they are very responsive.

This freaked me out reading all these comments on here - but they are legit. I didn't give my details and he said OK well I can send an email to your secure etax account - which he did. So it is Etax.

NOT SPAM - ETAX ACCOUNTANTS - TAKE THE CALL

This is a number that often rings us and I am sick of running to the phone to answer to a scammer.

I just got one of these - and a foreign sounding lady claiming to be from ETax left a voice mail asking me to ring back on what looked to be one of those premium call numbers......

i had called them back and they said ETax.. they said i had to sign my tax return to finish it off to finalise last years tax.. when i proceeded in talking i asked how much im getting back ( as i already know) he told me that i didnt fill out ny employment section and application is empty. i ask how thay could be as i have it all printed out.. he hung up on me

It is ETax. They noted an old email address on file and wanted to update details. Clearly if they have rung you, you have lodged a Tax Return through them previously. Although, these days most of us lodge our returns through MyGov, so they must be chasing business..
