Yes folks, I got a call from these annoying little twats also. As soon as he heard the unimpressed tone in my voice, he assured me he wasn't selling anything. lol. He then said he was from the Australian Information Advisory Service, a government department and although his number was private, he got very defensive and said I could check the number (08) 9422 4231. He wanted me to confirm if he had my postcode correct. I said I wasn't going to answer that. He laughed and repeated he was from the AIAS, blah, blah. I said the Australian Government would inform me by post if they were going to call and ask me questions about my employment. He laughed again and said but I am calling from your government. I told him not to laugh, that it was a serious matter what he was engaging in. Then he became abusive and told me to shut my mouth! Hilarious. I laughed then. They can't even stay calm and polite when they're not getting their own way. He said he would report me. Oooooh! He's going to report me. Bahaha! Will I go to jail? I think not. Pee off the lot of you, you little scum buckets, I know you're checking out this website.

Someone from "Australian Advisory Service" phoned around 6.50p.m. and proceeded to advise me that they had my name, address and then suddenly hung up. Not sure what he was trying to do and had an Aussie accent. I have contacted various government authorities and gave them details. I was concerned that they have information they had about me although quite easy to access through white pages. Interesting.

I was called by number (07) 5660 5819 who said they were from the Australian Business Advisory Service also. They started asking me questions that got a bit too personal so I said I think I will end the call thanks. It smelt like a scam. They were not ASBAS because their applications are currently closed. Need I say more. I hope they won't call back. I gotta say I am so sick and tired of phone scammers I get them all the time. At least one to three a week. Why is there not more security for individuals to block particular phone numbers on their landlines and mobiles. Hey we are in the technology age folks?

I received two calls this evening from a woman with a heavy Asian accent telling me that she was from the Australian Advisory Service and wanted to know if either I or my husband were working and under the age of 58 as we would be eligible for a rebate. They hang up when I refused to answer their questions. Just an other annoying scam.

Received a call from "Australian Advisory Service" this evening about 7:00pm. When I refused to confirm who I was and asked who they were, they hung up. The caller was a woman with a Philippines type of accent.

Contact Telstra and ask them to put a trace on your phone for nuisance phone calls. All you have to do is record date and time and let Telstra know when they were. When the scammers including this one call you press the Call/Flash button on your phone and it traces the scammers number. I have been doing it for two months and it turns out most of these callers are coming from the same phone number within Australia. Telstra tell me often it is workers from a legit company calling you in their spare time. This means that when Telstra contact their employer they often dont know much about what is going on and deal with it internally. If the calls persist then the company where the phone calls are being made from loses their phone service regardless of what service provider they are with. Well worth a go. Phone number for Telstra nuisance calls is 1800 805 996. And No I do not work for them LOL.

They have been pestering me for over a year, calling both landline and mobile, I keep telling them I am not interested and if they call again I am calling the Police, this doesn't bother them in the least.

So has anyone got to the bottom of this mob yet? I told them I didn't want cold calls and the bloke responded saying ïts not a cold call mate"and then hung up on me! They keep calling. Sometimes they hang up on me because they are targeting my wife. Tonight it was Ëdward"from a private number. Previously it has been an overseas number. Tonight I said I was on the do not call register too....but I'd love to know more about this mob! Tonight is 28 Aug 2013.

I got my second call fro, The Australian Advisory Service - someone with a foreign accent and it sounded like it was on Skype. They could save me 50% on my next tax bill. I told her I was not interested as I was happy with my own accountant. She stated that they would not interfer with my accountant?!?! I repeated I was not interested, she kept on talking and hung up. She said they were from Melbourne. So over scam calls - I am seriously thinking of investing in a high pitched whistle:) So much for the 'do not call' register, although, I suppose overseas calls do not know or care.

I answered my phone to the 'Australian Information Advisory Service' and told the voice at the other end of the landline that I'd research the group and hung up. Googling led me to this site. There's no mystery to how this person has my number. It's in the book. This weasel shouldn't be too hard to find.

AIAS, what an anoying group, they have been ringing us for over 12 months. Even though we don't give out information they claim that we have. I was able to get an address this time but guess what it dosn't exist. Keep trying for that ABN.

Just got a call from the Australian Information Advisory Service - 1311 was the ph no showing on my handset.He started asking if I was employed fulltime and if my partner was.... I asked him the ph no of the AIAS, he told me (08) 8422 4231, a Prospect S.A. number. I then told him it was none of his business whether or not I was employed or owned a home, said thank you and hung up on him. Rang the ''Prospect" no and left a message on the answering machine for someone to return my call.....haha. let's see what happens!!!!!

I have a private number but they keep calling me.They have been wanting to make an appointment to come to my house and show me how to minimise my taxes. They say they have someone in the area tomorrow.I asked her today where she was calling from and she said she was based in Melbourne. I asked why it said OVERSEAS on my caller ID and she said this was because it was an internet call.I asked for a callback number and she was a bit hesitant but gave me one. When I rang the number there was a message from what sounded like a perfectly innocent person called Geraldine who had almost certainly never heard of AIAS. I didn't leave a message just in case it was part of the scam.She became quite abusive when I asked more questions and asked why I had asked her to call back. I didn't ask her to call back. I politely asked her never to call back and hung up but she tried ringing again. I didn't answer.I will be very suspicious and am reluctant to ever answer any survey questions again.Are they on-selling personal information?Kaye
googer
Thats strange as numbers in SA all start with 08 not 07

Just had an in home meeting with The Australian Advisory Service, I too got a call seeing if I was eligable for any government tax incentives. I was interested in their free information. I realise I pay a lot of income tax so all they did was show me ways of re-directing the tax im paying into my morgage. They were really nice, and it was quick and painless. Also showed me how to set up self managed super which I believe everyone should have..So to everyone who cracks the sads in this thread, maybe learn a little about what your not interested in before you decide your not interested!!

I had a call today from AIA claiming that they are investigating how the interest rates are affecting consumers in my area. I think it is a scam because the questions they asked had nothing to do with the interest rate. It was more personal information that they were after - which evaded by giving them a whole range of answers. Some the questions which are in breach of privacy include:
* What is occupation - please provide specific;
* Do you and others in the property work full time;
* Is the property you are living in mortgage of owned outright;
* Do you own other properties;
* What is the value of your property;
* How much is your gross income; and
* What is your full name.
For each of the question I told them that the information was either confidential or with regard to property value they could easily find it on the website. When I told them that I was on a do not call register, they said that they got my number from the old white pages. So I ask to speak to their manager and a few minutes later they hang up on me.
Not a single one of their questions related to interest rates and the stress it is causing on the people. So definitely a scam! I'll be interested to know others views on this and if anyone ever meets them, what are they intending to get out of it. By the way, the person became really defensive towards the end especially when I said that they were in breach of privacy laws.
