The clean energy regulator give them everyone's personal information when you get the solar rebate. I am very very very sure we didn't consent to them giving out our personal information, by the way.
Once the company receive our info from the regulator, they call and say that the solar work completed, even though it was over a year and a half ago and has to be checked by a master electrician for defects etc. That is where they get you. They contract people to go to your house, again, breach of personal information occurs by the company giving contractors your info, then they check and find anything and everything wrong with the panels and then they give you a defect notice which you have to act on and ends up costing a fortune.
We received a letter in the mail on the same day this company called to say it "had" to be done. But, the letter stated "if you wish to participate in the SRES Inspections Programme" So, we didn't participate.
I understand that after the fiasco with the government scheme for Insulation went completely south, checking should be done, but, the company need to at least send the letter well in advance to give the owner of the home enough time to make the decision if they want to participate or not and not have someone call to say they have to. It is just so wrong. Especially when this is left wide open to scam pensioners and vulnerable persons.
