Just received another call from the above number. The female at the other end went almost word for word as in the previous call earlier today. I asked several times to prove to me who she was. I finally got an answer, she said dumm & bradstrat At least that's what it sounded like! She then requested my address and surname. If the call is legitimate she would have this information. I repeated my request for her to prove to me that she is who she claims to be. The then said ATO. My response to this was a to "fu&k off and get a real job"!
After all I have received no mail from the Australian Tax Office in any shape or form whatsoever!!! Obviously a scammer.

Caller: Dun & Bradstreet (now called Illion) These are legitimate phone calls. D&B are debt collectors operating on behalf of the ATO (and others). If they say you have a debt you'd better take notice otherwise you could end up in court, bankrupt, damaged credit rating, etc. When they call, ask for a reference number then hang up and ring 132333.

Just so everyone is aware, debt collectors are not allowed to tell anyone other than the person who has the debt, that the person has a debt or any details of the debt. This is why debt collectors request that you inform them who you are, so that they aren't breaking privacy legislation. If you are ever requested to provide information and you are not 100% sure of the caller on the other end, tell them to provide you with a reference number for the call, and then call back the legitimate company (whether that be D&B, ATO, Telstra, Optus, etc) with the contact info found online or on your last correspondence with the company and tell the operator what has occurred, and whether the reference number is logged against your name. Just because they are being vague does not necessarily mean they are scammers, but sometimes just that they are following privacy legislation. I work at a Tax Agent, and the ATO often refer taxpayer debts to D&B to handle on their behalf. If you're uncomfortable calling D&B, contact the ATO to confirm whether the debt has been transferred to D&B to collect on the ATO's behalf.

Just missed a call from the above number. So I rang it to see what/who it is. A female finally answered and said it is a tax matter. She then requested my surname and business ABN. I requested that she prove to me that she is who she is and the reply was simply it is a tax matter. Now considering I rang the number back and without any knowledge of who I am she said it is a tax matter. Yeah sure. Bloody scammers.
