Ring the number back or answer and ask to be removed from their callers list! I did it and no more call for me! :-)

I gladly give what I can. These guys saved my son and his mates at Surfers Paradise. Please support them don't curse them. You never know when you'll need them.

If you check with the ATO you will find that raffle tickets are not gifts and therefore are not tax deductible.

Maybe the surf life savers would be able to get the funding they needed if they didn't have to pay wages to people to sit on the phones all day and into the evening. Has anybody asked the call centre operators how much the life savers would save if they didn't have to pay you and rent the space you people sit in???????????

Save the # to your phone and name them as "block", then add them to your 'black list'. (I have a Samsung Galaxy and it works a treat).

Hoops... I certainly wouldn't want to work with you. They most certainly are tax deductable! Donations to charitable organisations are deductable over $2, even when it's a raffle.

Yes, I bought a few lottery tickets in the past, but they call my mobile at 5.30-6.30pm when its not appropriate. I asked to be removed and they said I was, but they still call every lottery at closing time. They are nice people with a good cause but I support many good causes and its not nice to be hounded.

Hi there,I just purchased my first ticket and when trying to see what the second option 1st prize choices were (it doesn't say on their site) I came across this thread! Yikes. I hate being called and gave my name, number and date of birth in the expectation it will be used to let me know if I win, more than this and I consider it harrassment! Yes, really.@ RealalityCheckOperator is absolutely correct. There is no limit to the proportion of how much they can take, although I don't know if the SurfLifesavers, Aussie Swim Gods that they are are part of this or if they run their own system. If people are complaining then I'd say it is an external agent who will take a large cut. Hope they don't call NZ lol.
NR
well, i thought as much... I won't be calling the number back, I am on the DNC Register and although I believe in being charitable I also believe I should chosse the charities and not be approached woth pesty phonecalls
Bruce
I don't care whose life they are saving. I hate cold callers, doesn't matter if they knock on my door or ring. They can all F off.
Dan
Dunno what's with the haters, I love having surf life savers, and the people who call are always considerate, never pushy, always polite, and I've generally got or given them a laugh while we're chatting. I donate regularly.
For the tax deduction rubbish, they're a charity so not-for-profit aka tax concessions/exemptions. They still pay bills like the rest of us, just can possibly claim the GST back. You're probably all understandably jaded by the constant marketing crap. This ain't marketing, it's a charity asking for your help.

I too once believed in winning the Surf Lifesavers Lottery. That house or unit on the Sunshine/Gold coast. After twenty five years of buying tickets with never a win, believe me, maybe one day is a long time coming. Although I agree it is for a good cause, they do an amazing job, you have to wonder how much of the money goes directly to puchasing much needed equipment.
