It's just a phishing expedition. They could be from anywhere, piggy-backing on a local number and trying to extract your personal information so they can sell it on.
And for the person who said it was AAMI wanting to renew their car insurance, the real AAMI sends you renewal stuff in the post.
Avoid. Give NO personal information if you can possibly help it. The less they know, the better. Turkeys.

If you have a iPhone you can block this caller, I just got a call from this number but after reading all these messages I now know who it is, as they hung up when I answered I will be blocking them now.

AAMI are owned by Suncorp. I get calls also as I have house contents insurance with them, plus my Mum works for AAMI and she confirmed that they are owned by Suncorp. So all good

Annoying man, trying to sell me Life Insurance as I was a valued GIO Insurance customer. Told him already had insurance, but he said that every 2 years should look at getting quotes. Tried to sell me other types of insurance.

on 30/6 at 12.26pm first call ,2nd call at 2.44pm ,3rd call 3.17pm ,I sent text and told them they don't let it ring long enough ,4th call 4.57pm I still did not answer HA HA HA

Had a call from (07) 3135 4949 this arvo at 4 pm however no answer after I said Hello. Nextime I see this No. I will just ignore it.

3 calls so far today from this number. I dont own a car or more own home so why are thy calling me about insurance? Weirdos.

Have had calls from this number. Finally today I answered it. Claimed they were from AAMI, just 'checking my details'. Called had an american accent. All the details he quoted me were correct - if he was a scammer, where did he get this information?

He might not be american - there is software out there which can 'americanise' accents.

This number calls be around 1pm and 4pm EVERY Wednesday. No message left. It's been over 2 months. I wish they would get a clue. I'm not answering. Leave a message or kindly f*#k off.

I've also received 2 calls today and didn't answer either of them - it's funny because I had completed a survey the other day and one of the questions was about car insurance. I'm not happy if my supposedly 'confidential' details are being shared with a telemarketer, I just won't answer numbers I don't know so I always check with this site first - it's a great resource. Thankyou!

It is SUNCORP customer service, regarding insurance... I rang their general number (they wouldn't answer returned calls on their number) and have opted out of the annoying "service" !!!!!!!!!!!!
