I got the same call from this number, around twice a day. It is extremely annoying. I dont know how to block this number, and where to address this issue.

I got a call from this number today and answered it. The conversation was a little odd. The man I talked to was trying to get me to bundle my Rogers service. I was initially uninterested, but since I don't have cable at the moment (only internet) and I was considered getting cable, I figured I would listen anyways.
The man sounded like he was from a call center in India, thick accent, staticy phone line.
He went on to tell me that I could get Cable for free for 6 months for only $2.99 provided I signed up for 2 multicultural channels (he even had the entire list of channels for different languages)
I asked him what I would pay after 6 months, he told me $34.99. I asked if I could cancel after 6 months, he said it was a 12 month commitment but I talked him down to saying I could cancel after 6 months with no penalty fee (even though he told me that I would be so happy with Rogers service that I would simply not want to cancel)
He seemed to know my address, what services I had and that I had a phone line with Bell.
I agreed to the promotion and he started walking me through the details, got me to confirm my address and Date of Birth. Then he asked me for my Drivers License number.
I told him I wouldn't be giving that to him over the phone. He gave me a song and dance about how they needed it to confirm my information to pass the information from the Promotions department of Rogers on to the Billing Department. I asked for a phone number I could call back at. He *immediately* put me through to his "Senior Supervisor"
A new guy came on the line and went through the whole quick schtick again, $2.99/month 6 months, etc, etc, they are taking full responsibility for my personal information, blah, blah, blah.
Then he got around to the fact that he needed two pieces of identification from me. The options he gave me were
1) Drivers License # 2) Social Insurance Number 3) Permanent Residency Card #
I told him he must be out to lunch if he though I was going to give him my SIN number over the phone from a number that does not originate from my country but if he liked and could provided me with a Rogers number to call I would gladly call back and finish the tranaction.
The line immediately went dead. He hung up on me before I could even pause to wait for an answer.
I'm currently on hold with ACTUAL Rogers right now, trying to figure this out. So far the guy I talked to said that Rogers does have independant companies that do run sales for them, but that not even he has access to my entire drivers license # in his system (only the last 4 digits), same with my SIN # (although, for the life of me I can't remember why I would have given that to them (maybe I didn't have a credit card when I first signed up)) so he's not sure why I would have been asked for the whole # when the only thing the independant company would have needed to provide back to Rogers was the last 4 digits of either numbers.
Just finished the call with Rogers, the guy I talked to and his supervisor are VERY intrigued by this offer. They don't recognize the phone number or area code as being attached to any independant Rogers Sales / Promotion company or division. Permanent residency card is NOT on their list of available identification, and their multi-cultural channels usually go for $15 each.
In the end, he said they could offer some pretty sweet deals, but full basic cable + time shifting + Rogers on Demand + 2 multi-cultural channels for $2.99 a month was simply not something they could afford.
So it looks like, in the end this is a not a telemarketing call at all but a pure and simple (albeit very detailed and comprehensive) IDENITY THEFT SCAM.
Do not even bother to consider offers from this company.

Ok... if you get these calls, call your local phone provider and advised them of these scam artists getting your number, they will most likely connect you with their fraud department to file a complaint..
the second thing I would personally reccommend doing is reporting it to your local RCMP as they are the only ones who can officially open a trace on the numbers and pursue this in a legal manner.
I assure you that this number does not belong to any of Rogers Call Centres be they First Party, or Third Party.

After receiving many calls from this number, to which dead air was always present, I finally connected with a live person on the other end. I could barely understand his English but he said he was from Rogers and that he had a deal for me.I let him ramble on for awhile and asked him some questions that only Rogers themselves would know to which he mumbled on about being from Sudan and asked me if I would pray for him. (odd)After agreeing to whatever he was offering, I was patched through to a "supervisor" who's English was better but not perfect. The did seem to have my address and phone number in their system however I was quick to give them bogus info to replace it. In fact I gave them the address as our local police station. They said they would send me my free phone via mail and that the new plan I had agreed to (with the bogus information) would be activated soon.Right...I'd encourage you to contact your local authorities about this number, and also report it to Rogers themselves.

This number keeps calling at hours we would not be here. Today i got a call from this number and answered it...of course we are a company so i answered it with the company logo and got nothing but dead air! I continued to wait and listen and of course there was no voice and then i heard the hang up. Obviously a scam!

i've been receiving calls from this number for the past few days now. Not sure why when i pick up, it's dead air. Today however, someone was actually on the phone claiming to be from Rogers. I had done some research prior to this live call so I pretty much pretended to be very excited and gave them all the info they requested(fake of course). They transferred me to someone else who 'confirmed' my id's etc. and they then told me that someone will be calling me back yet again. Someone did call back but said their office is now closed and they will be calling me tomorrow.I figure if they want to make a living out of defrauding people, I'll do my best to waste their time too!!Bwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahahahahahah!!!!i'll let you all know what happens!!!My advice: Don't be scared or intimidated. Have fun with these bastards. Make their life hell!! Just don't let on that you know who they are.
