I received a call from (07) 3054 3700. It's from The Premium Group. As far as I can see, the "Group" is a telemarketing business, employed by ... who knows ... They claim to not be selling anything, but they start by offering tax incentives. If that's not selling, I don't know what it is then...! :D They will ask you qualifying, objective questions like "are you married, or do you have a partner?" and "are you a home owner, or renting?" to 'test' if you qualify for what they are offering. But remember, "they're not selling anything" ...Confused? So was I... ;-)

Tried calling me at least twice a day for the past week. Fortunately I'm at work for 90% of the calls the other 7% I ignore and I only bother to answer the 3% when I'm extremely bored

I have received many calls over the years from these people. The are trying to get leads for a Premium Group Financial Planning Company that sells negative gearing strategies by investing in property. In order to do this they require people with regular incomes, own or almost own their property and use a Line of Credit Loan with a credit card. The caller must not try to obtain information, sell or advise in any way because they are not licensed to do so, therefore they disguise the call as a survey or as providing information, (Government Tax Entitlements).
In my case they tried everything to get me to meet their licensed adviser in my state. I asked for the Dealer's Financial Services License which they must disclose by law. The Company can not by law contact you directly because this is illegal and result in losing their Financial Services License. Caller hung up. This is deceptive and illegal conduct and a breach of people's privacy.
You should report them to the ACCC, ASIC and Privacy Commissioner.

They are trying to con you in to getting a "free" information booklet, personally delivered by a company representative so you can "get back up to 100% of your taxes for things like paying off your mortgage or putting in to super". This is a scam and they hang up so they know when you will answer your phone to call back next time.

Yeah, I called them back, and all I got was a machine answering "Thank you, Goodbye" before the line cut out.

I researched this further and found this post, which is very much like what I experienced:
"There is a new scam doing the rounds in Australia – I have been called, and so have other members of my family.
This group is cold calling people saying they are from the "National Rebate Initiative". They say that this is an Australian Government initiative.
FACT 1: There is no such initiative from the government. FACT 2: There is no company or trading name registered with this name.
They will ask you for details of whether you are a homeowner under 60, and how much you earn.
DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR DETAILS.
If you do, they will: 1) Tell you that you can save $8,000 – $15,000 per year. and 2) Ask to send someone round to your house. This appointment will be about investing in property – and losing money in it (negative gearing).
When quizzed about how they got our phone number, they say they use a 'register of all homeowners in Australia'.
This company (if it is one) is NOT adhering to the National DO NOT CALL Register.
If you get a call – please update this thread with further identifying details of the culprits, and also advise scamwatch.gov.au"

Marketing call from someone with an Aussie accent. Asked me if I lived in Rockhampton. I live in Sydney. He obviously had no clue who he was talking to and I hung up on him.

I had a call today on both my landline and mobile around 3.15pm by (07) 3054 3735, one on my mobile I didn't get to tonight at 7.38pm on line (07) 3054 3774 and I did answer one on my home phone at (07) 3054 3707 at 7.56pm. I said hello and waited and then said "talk or I will report you", she then said "who are you going to report me to", I then said "we'll I said hello and held on and no one spoke, she said thanks very much , I then said well how can I help you, no response forthcoming so I hung up. I contacted Telstra this afternoon about the first one but they were of no real use. I did try to ring the first one back this afternoon on my free time on the mobile but only got the message that number not available, please check the number and call again. Don't know if this is of any use to you to check things out. Really hope so.
