Never again will I enter a competition online nor fall for the "survey" which are supposed to give you the chance to win a $500 gift card. Once they get yr number they share it to all other organisations they own & they keep changing phone numbers making it hard to block.

point is what sort of system is the Do Not Call System. It's basically BS. This site is crawling with complaint calls. What are the Telcos doing.... Someone is leasing all these numbers from the phone companies. Obviously happy to take the fees....

I got this one too - as well as many others. You're generally not being called by a living human being, but an auto-dialer (robot), illegally checking for valid phone numbers to sell to marketers. If you pick up - hooray! - your number goes onto any number of marketing lists. I never answer a phone number I don't recognise - if they're kosher, they'll leave a message. If not, plug it into Google and it will most likely come up as a nuisance number, like this one. If so, go back to your phone and block it. Unfortunately there's no way of stopping it. The machines keep calling from different numbers.

It was a call to my mobile. I never answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. Instead I come to this web side once in a while and check those phone numbers.

With the home line I use a call recorder. Again i only answer calls from known numebers . On average I get about 3 or 4 calls a day where upon calling the caller leaves no message on the recorder.

I found my approach allows me to keep my sanity.

and sends fake sms to me, that is obviously a scam.
WHEN these people ring me, I now have a story that I tell them.....

I repeat this until they hang up

Rang my phone or 2 rings then hung up. Checked here and have blocked them to prevent more calls. I'm on the "Do Not Call" list so I expect they use this ploy and hope that I will phone them back to find out who it is.

Called then hung up on me. I called back then I asked why, but they said something about traveling but also said they’ll get the consultant who called me. I said I wasn’t interested but they said they weren’t selling anything, I told them I didn’t want to hear their excuses and told them not to ever call me again.
Spam call for sure.

Called, then hanged up when answered.

I used to own that number :( optarse completely rorted me and refused to 'initiate' it properly despite numerous complaints to the TIO! Unfortunately some scumbag must of bought it in a batch.

BASTARDS! I'm the legal owner of this number but due to being stuffed around well and truly by all the telcos and the TIO being unable to sort out the technical issues with this number (particularly with Optus) I let it go dormant. Sad to see such a great number being used by scammers :(
