I also had a text from this number claiming to be from NRMA. seems like a scam. I have nothing to do with them and no outstanding insurance issues with anyone

Got a text from this mobile number:

"We recently contacted you to let you know you’re entitled to a refund. If you’ve already spoken to
us about this, please disregard this message. If not, please get in touch with us.

Phone: call us on 1300 064 699 from 8:30am to 8:00pm AEST"

Yep, asked me to call an RACV number 1300 339 489 to have an insurance refund re-issued. Won't be calling even though RACV do owe me a refund. Good coincidence.

Next one was the same except for SGIC insurance.
Weird thing is i really had issue with NRMA recently and received a refund so these people get the info some how?

Caller: Said same as previous - that an insurance refund cheque was sent but returned and to contact them. Weird this is the number to call is legit - i checked then called it but the agent looked me up and said he saw no record of a refund. As the msg alternatively suggested the NRMA website, it's hard to see it as a scam. It's more an annoyance as I guess we are all calling the NRMA 1300 legit number asking for refunds. I reckon it's a disgruntled former NRMA call centre employee behind it! But no harm done.

Insurance refund scam

Got two messages, one straight after the other, saying I should call a 1300 number about a refund cheque.

The first message said it was NRMA Insurance but the second was from SGIC Insurance.

I don't believe it's legit.

Calling to tee up a call to ensure claim OK ???? Not sure if kosher or not!

CGU refund scam.

I received an SMS claiming to be SGIC in South Australia. It used SGIC website "to look up refund" or call a 1300 number. The website did not have the1300 number so I went online to SGIC and reported the Scam. This is the second scam attempt this week so there out in force :(

Received message and thought was scam because the number in msg wasn't on NRMA website... Called main NRMA number 132 132 and in the vehicle option they repeat this number so not scam... But I still won't use a link in a msg... call separately through the main number

I got this today and yes it is legitimate. The 1300 number in the text is NRMA. I googled it and found that it relates to an overcharging of a levy from 2013. Google "NRMA customers to receive a $6.8 million refund". Probably just get a pittance though. Since the issue is with IAG presumably non-NRMA customers will also get this text.

i had same issue i reckon its garbage if you call the number it could risk charging your phone number with a call charge
