did you ask police? was it a scam?

Same message today, blocking and ignoring as the nu7mber seems to have a long history of these scam messages

Caller: Police scam

Scammer pretending to be from the police research centre. Contact 000 directly from you phone if in doubt.

Clearly a scam. "This is a message on behalf of the police in your state or territory."

The message can’t even correctly quote the police or cancer council of our state… no chance of the call or message being legitimate!

I got the “on behalf of the police” text. I’m blocking it.

received this text i did not respond, blocked and deleted. a few days later voice mail left from (03) 9492 6301 with a woman reading a message that her name was xxxxxx, which happens to be my name! and they are conducting a survey and will call back. Wow looking into it seems almost legit, but for them using my name. I am on do not call register. If this is actually legitimate its disgraceful.

Received txt msg with same details and the Reply/Opt Out option.
Did not respond.

I replied to this message—dumb move, I know—but did anyone also reply and get hacked etc.??

Today I got a text message from this number 'this is a message on behalf of the police in your state or territory. The social research centre will call you in the coming days to see if you can take part in an important study on safety and crime in your area. Reply 1 if you are 18+, 2if you are under 18 or 3 to opt out"...I didn't reply and I don't answer calls from numbers I don't know anyway..

I received same message, its definitely a scam!
