Caller: Indian scammer Female Indian voice from a company that sounded like NBN (or she may have said the Broadband Service) asking me about my internet speed. Said there were "technical reports" of slow speeds on my line. **I played along** She asked what was connected to my internet. What lights were on. What colour the lights were, were they solid or flashing....etc. I could hear someone talking to her in the background and she responded to him in Hindi. She then got me to do a speed test. (I used the Telstra speed test on my laptop) My speed test showed that my internet was working at the upper end of the speeds I pay for. She then said just a moment and then I was connected to a "supervisor". This lovely man was "Eric Wilson" and he told me that my internet was underperforming because I was only getting 52.9Mb/s download, 16.9Mb/s upload and 26ms Ping. But never fear he was going to upgrade my line for free! No, it would not change my monthly cost or my plan but I would get downloads of 99Mb/s. (Lucky me). He also told me his employee ID and the "Fibre Upgrading team" number. All I had to do was go to this website.....which was some sort of remote access site. Clearly I did not do this. Instead I told him my virus checking software blocked it. He wanted to know which one...when I told he he said he would help me fix it as it was just a "firewall" issue. That's when I told him that I am not an idiot and have been playing along. I said I know that he was an Indian scammer and all he wanted was access to my computer to steal money. He started getting smart about being Indian...but not about being a scammer. But it was 17 minutes of him not being able to scam a gullible person out of money.

Caller: Claimed to be from Telstra
Called from 0480 003 328 claiming to be from Telstra alerting me to international hacking activity on my account, when I asked for proof of employment at Telstra he provided me with a fake ID number TEL1161571 and asked to connect directly to my phone as proof. I then asked for the customer service number at Telstra for me to call back on he got angry and asked me "in one word, do you want me to fix your hacking issue or not? yes or no?". I said No and he swore at me and hung up. Clearly a scam. Sounded like he was in an Indian call centre background.
