Yup spot on about the terrible accent and awful phone manner along with the LG phone offer. I too am a iPhone 5 customer and dont really care about a dumb LG phone and my suspicions were raised immediately when they said that I had been a long term Optus customer when I had only had the pre-paid number for a total of 3 weeks! I was really abrupt and hung up them telling them I am an Apple customer and dont care about their phone and also demanded that they tell me where they got my number. They never rang back so totally a scam!

Definitely a scam. The guy who called me kept on saying the call was "in regards to my mobile number" and when I pressed him "as to what in regards" he had no answer. He just wanted my ID details. No way!

Got a call from 0466 710 878 and 0466 711 023, 0466 711 024

Received a call from a very similar number, 0466 710 893, calling from "Realsim" regarding the "Optus connection that [I] am using right now". Told him I'd make an official complaint with ACMA if he didn't tell me where he got my number - he hung up pretty quickly after that.

Had a call offering an LG Optimus phone as a reward for being long term Optus customer, for which they confirmed delivery address. I became suspicious when they asked for my birthdate which I said they would have on their records. They went on to request further ID & were insistent it was necessary to complete the order process. Options were drivers licence number, passport number, proof of age etc which I refused to provide as I believed this was unnecessary. After reassurances I could trust them the call concluded after twelve & a half minutes without me providing id & they are not sending phone, which I was suspicious would not arrive anyway even though I assurred them I would provide sighting of my id on delivery of phone.
They persistently told me that id was necessary to ensure the phone was delivered to the correct person even though the address I provided was my office at which I am the only person by my name. They didn't appreciate me telling them I believed their call was a load of crap & BS.
After checking on the phone # & reading previous comments I have no doubt this is a scam to obtain personal information.

got a call from this number as well... at first I didn't think it was odd, but then when she/he ask about my name, I found it's odd, how come he/she doesn't know their customer name.. so when he asked me to spell my full name I disconnected the phone... hopes it wouldnt be something harmful...

Indian sounding female on the phone. Bad noisy line. I kept asking where she was from and she just hung up. Obviously a scam.

I had a call from this number asking me about my Optus prepaid phone, I said I wasn't prepaid. I Asked where they were calling from and she hung up. Noisy line, bad signal, sounded Indian.

Yeah got a missed call from the number so tried to call it back and it keeps rejecting and saying service unavailable. Thanks guys I now know its just a scam

had the same callers but in reverse. 0466 711 023 called 5 days ago (strong accent) and tried to tell me that because I had retained my Optus phone number for so long that I was being rewarded with a new phone - LG I think was the brand. I have the latest iphone so I am really not interested in a new phone. They wanted to know my address so they could send the phone and asked what plan I was on. I asked him a heap of questions and eventually asked what company he was with as I suspected he was not from Optus. Told me he was calling from a different company but I cant remember the name. I suspect it was a scam to move me over to another provider so I just kept bombarding him with questions for over 5 minutes. He eventually hung up on me :) Then today I received a call from 0466 710 878, however this time they hung up as soon as I answered the phone. I smell the strong scent of a scam!
