Caller: PayPal au security code

I get messages from paypal with the security code verification you have to enter .

I have been receiving a lot of SMS messages from Pay Pal.
I just sent this phone number to Pay Pal and they said it is not theirs. The do not send SMS messages, only emails. So this is SPAM.

Caller: Paypal

This is Paypal's notification number. If someone sends you money via Paypal, you will get an sms from this number.
HOWEVER.... scammers can spoof the number (or ANY number) and make it look like they are calling from this number since it is publicly known.
So if you bought something on ebay etc and you get a Paypal notification it's ok.
If you did not just use Paypal and get a notification on this number just ignore it because it could be scammers trying to hook you.

Sender claimed to be Paypal with security code to login. 4 text messages with different codes received within 5 minutes.

Caller: supposedly "PayPal Mobile"

Just received 6 SMS messages very quickly apparently from "PayPal Mobile". Each message had a "security code" that "expires in 10 minutes". Was NOT using my Paypal account at that time.

Yes received txt message from this stating it was PayPal with a security code and it would expire in 10 mins. But I don’t have a account

This msg said (PayPal) Customer, some unsafe activities were reported on your account. For your safety, please regain access to your account at this link

Please do not reply on these scams, pay pal will only use two numbers, not a mobile number - they will only contact you on two numbers that are displayed on their official site.

I do not use PayPal..........ever. However they sent me a security code so I could make a payment????????????

Reverse Australia needs to take down the fake reviews by SCAMMERS that day this is not a scam. THIS IS A SCAM!! DO NOT REPLY TO THIS TEXT !!

Logged into my Paypal account, wanted to update mobile number - typed in my new number and then had to click on a button to have a verification PIN sent to my new phone number.
An SMS arrived with a PIN number, but it came from mobile #0458 729 725, with no mention of Paypal. I retried with same result, so I logged off, rebooted my PC and tried again. This time the PIN came quite clearly from Paypal with the text "Paypal: Your security code is xxxxxx. It expires in 10 minutes. Don't share this with anyone."(PAYPAL, not a dodgy mobile number without any other info)!

...... I can't help but think it was a scammer on that mobile number. Anyway, glad I didn't send the PIN they gave me to my Paypal account!

I received a text this morning 12/11/20 pretending to be from paypal saying a LINDA PEMBERTON is requesting AUD $20.00!

PayPal? ( NOT ) sending a SMS from a mobile number? I read it and texted back "Nice try scammer". Then got another message telling me I can't request money by text. I texted back to send me an email to my email address associated with my PayPal account. Never got an email. Don't fall for this .....

Asking me to add 0458 729 75 to my contact list. Called it from the landline - surprise... not: Number disconnected.
Also, very bad English in the message. Scammers use bad grammar 99% of the time.

I have had a PP account for more than 15 years. I have NEVER received a text from them. This is, quite clearly, a scam.

The person was intimidated me by SMS to me that :

PayPal: Due to Australian regulation, you cannot use or withdraw funds until your identity is verified. Log into your PayPal account on desktop and action urgently.

Caller: Allegedly Paypal

Sent this text:

Seems suspicious considering I don’t have any funds currently so why would it be urgent? I’ve also been using the funds from my PayPal previous to this text message with no issue. Definitely seems suspicious and a scam
